The status quo in Houston for the past 7 years is 7 ALCS appearances, 4 World Series appearances and two World championships. Forgive me if I don’t see an issue with the “status quo”. I think Espada is who the players wanted, and they're getting reward for their efforts I think Espada will be a better manager than Dusry, but more than likely he will not have better results. Dusty was very lucky.

I’ve listened to a couple of podcasts and YouTube folks talk about Espada being Brown’s guy. The clear insinuation was that Dusty was hard-headed and didn’t like “advice” from the analytics department or Brown. Brown picked the guy he liked who will actually listen when people smarter than him speak. Some may think that makes him Brown’s lackey but I’m not one of those. The Astros have assembled some really sharp baseball people. It’s more intelligent to consider all available input rather than bristle at the suggestion that things could be done better. Which is what we had. There is an old saying, "when you are green you are growing and when you are ripe you rot". Simply put when you Know you know everything get ready to be flushed down the crapper. Smart managers learn how to sift through all the suggestions and pick the winners for implementation.

If nothing else, maybe Bregman loves Espada and maybe he'll be more likely to stay because of it. 3B will be a wasteland without Bregman.

Dusty was very lucky. I think the importance of the manager is exaggerated. Whether a team has talent, and getting health and production from it's going to prevail. When the sample sizes shrink in October it's the manager's job not to eff things up, usually by over-managing.
I remember the pundits said Girardi was the best available, and he didn't work out with PHI. Then the same with Melvin and SDP. Counsell will probably be the next media favorite not to live up to the hype
