In the replay you could see that Altuve noticed something was up also. I didn't catch it either. I was just going with what Kalas was saying until I saw the replay.

Spend some time listening to/watching the commentators for practically any other team, and you'll come running back to Julia, Blummer and TK. By the way, blcoach8 , PA might be acting like a juvenile, but he's at least 65 or 70 years old. I have no idea how old oa really is. I am 68 with a birthday coming up soon

My wife immediately said "he pitched before Gattis was ready!" Better eyes than me. That being said, the balk call was originally made to keep the pitcher from flatout faking out the baserunners with a fake pitch or misstep. I think they've gotten way too picky on it, especially considering it can be the difference in a win or a loss.

Often, the balk is so discrete you can't even see it. I think it's too broad a rule, though...it covers a ton of scenarios.

Altuve acted like he knew Kela did not come to a complete stop......the dugout caught it, and, Hinch came out and the balk was called. What was bad......and what Banister was so upset about.......is that not ONE umpire signaled the balk before Hinch came out of the dugout.

Without reading the 1000 word MLB replay rule, I know balls/strikes are not reviewable, but how about balks? Anyone know without having to do extensive research?

Kalas said on the broadcast last night that it is not.

At least I'm consistent. I had the same problem with Milo when he was over the hill and flirting instead of discussing baseball.
I want baseball announcers to follow the game and limit their banter and interviews to when the game isn't being played.
The love for Hamilton always puzzled me. I always used to say that his behavior (drooling over female guests) would have gotten him fired in 487 of the Fortune 500 companies. I found him to be among the most self centered pukes ever to man a mic. Well maybe behind Harry Carey. Plus his non-baseball side bantering drove me crazy. Again , sorry to speak ill of the dead, but........... I could not possibly agree with you more. Never seen/heard a guy enjoy listening to himself babble on and on as much as Milo did. He seemed to crave the attention. It was more about him and less about the game when he was behind the mike.

Where Milo was at his worst was when he did on the field MC duties... he literally bellowed out his lines, and it was excruciating.

Milo always wanted to be in the spotlight...I got sick of hearing him always introduced as "hall of fame broadcaster, Milo Hamilton". He did a good job of handling play by play but I got tired of him always having that know-it-all attitude. Maybe it was just me, but, I always thought he talked down to whoever the anlayst was in the booth.....Dierker, Ashby, or whoever. Bill Brown was a true professional and one of the best I ever heard. I used to laugh at the feud Milo had with Harry Caray......both were arrogant and egotistical.

I could never figure out how Andy Pettitte got away with pitching to the first baseman.

It was obvious after the replay to me, but not watching live. I honestly never look for that though.

Evidently, neither did the umpires. They got lucky, though. I’ve never seen a reversal based on manager contention before, especially without the use of replay.
