He is 3-8 and is very fortunate it is not 3-9. In most of his starts, the Astros have had to play catch up because he is so horrible early in the game that he gets them in a hole. He needs to come out of the rotation. Saint, I wish you could realize that what Keuchel did three years ago does us no good now. Wtf does 3 years ago have to do with the first 10 games of the season? 3.43 ERA. First 10 games of the season. This year. Not 3 years ago.

That would be fantastic, but, we have seen no signs of him being able to do that. I would not be surprised if we put him on the DL which happens to a lot of pitchers when they are going through a stretch like Keuchel is in at the present time. "That would be fantastic, but, we have seen no signs of him being able to do that." You mean other than the first 10 games of the season when he carried a 3.43 ERA and averaged over 6 IP per start? Do you really believe what this guy posts, 7 out of the first 10 starts were quality starts. Remember this is the guy that said a pitchers won loss record is important. m.mlb.com/player/572971/dallas-keuchel?year=2018&stats=gamelogs-r-pitching-mlb

You constantly hear about if he had this break or that break. Just win. Don’t make it 50/50 that you either have a quality start or get shelled. Show some consistency. There’s absolutely no excuse for a last place team to erase a 6-0 deficit on you and before the 6th inning. I'm sure he would choose to have groundballs go one or two feet to the left or right if he could.... I’m sure Marisnick would choose to not strike out half the time, but that’s not how it works.

The way I see it the more a pitcher talks about bad breaks, how he did his job, the grounders found their way to the outfield, etc., the more it seems like a subtle condemnation of the defense. It’s a dicey situation to suggest things like that with this team. After all, we saw how Altuve reacted to McCullers in Cleveland.

Strikeouts are in Marisnick's control. Where a ball rolls is not in Keuchel's. How hard the ball is hit (or if it is hit at all) based on location is.

Eh, I think we're looking too far into it. He probably got asked the same question 6 times 6 different ways. Keuchel obviously isn't Peacock but he isn't Bryce Harper either.

You brought up Marisnick for some reason but your comparison was inaccurate. I don’t mind you sticking up for Keuchel, but my point is accountability. He has stunk it up in certain games and needs to own up to it. Hiding behind excuses is not a good look. My comparison was with two players who’ve struggled albeit one much more than the other. You don’t see Marisnick making excuses. Also, if he can control his contact, why does he routinely not make any?

You don’t see Marisnick making excuses. Also, if he can control his contact, why does he routinely not make any? Because he sucks. That's my point. You can control contact as a hitter. You can control if you hit it hard. You can't control if it goes right to a fielder for an out. If he was making hard contact but getting outs that would be out of his control. As it is out of Keuchels control where the routine groundballs he gives up go. His job was to get the routine groundballs. I'm not making excuses for Keuchel. He's walking too many and he's giving up more hits than normal. That doesn't change the fact that a lot of the hits are bad luck. They just are. So maybe he is giving himself too much credit, but he's not wrong that some of it is just unfortunate. In the end, I think ppl are looking to make more of these recent comments than is really there. Not a big deal either way to me.

Like I said, though, Keuchel justifying bad pitching is a bad look and throws shade at the defense when he wonders out loud to reporters about why hits keep happening. He flat out sucked his last two trips to the mound. No one wants to hear about how he actually did his job when he couldn’t even qualify for a win when up 6-0.

I don't care what your opinion is on anything related to baseball or anything else. You want to be right so bad that you mak an ass of yourself. Sorry if my opinion of a "quality start" differs from yours or the source you quote. If a pitcher constantly gets his team behind forcing them to play catch up, he is NOT giving a quality start in my book. He is now.........and has been all season......the weak link in the rotation and needs to be replaced. They will probably invent some sort of ailment for him so they have an excuse to put him on the DL. Keep stalking me, junior. It says a lot about the kind of idiot you are.

I am well aware of what wikipedia and other sources use to define a quality start. Like many others who know the game and call it like it is, I consider a quality start as one in which our pitcher does what is necessary to out pitch the opposing pitcher and keep us ahead or even with the opponent. In short, to be credited with a quality start Keuchel should be able to do that.......he has not. He did a pathetic job yesterday by blowing a 6-0 lead. The fact that he won the Cy Young in 2015 isn't winning us any games this season. But, if you want to keep pretending the guy is a good pitcher, that is your right. It is my right to say he is not very good at the present time which he is not and the record shows it. Now, go bestow what little baseball knowledge you may possess on somebody who gives a damn about reading it.

Bortaz your boy the Psycho is out of his cocoon, with calling his famous call of "Asshole" this dude is a Fecking jerk. Son, the only person here that is impressed with you is you. I know it's hard but try to accept it and move on. You have the gall to call people a jerk yet you are the one going around stirring up all the problems. But, it is obvious you are either too stupid to realize it or that is your intent. In either case, you ARE an asshole and you keep proving it. Good job!! Apparenlty, you are older than I thought. I thought you were an immature teenager since you always sound like you are crying and screaming trying to be heard while you boast about your knowledge. I am sorry you had to settel for a GED or less. I won't state my educational background because you would start whining all over again because you feel inferior. I don't pretend to be an authority on all things related to baseball, but, I can rest easy knowing that I am vastly superior to you in that department. So, if pounding your chest and tooting your own horn makes you feel less inferior, go for it. If you felt superior you wouldn't keep spewing your BS. Crawl back under your rock.

We get a nice compensation pick if we put in a qualifying offer and he refuses. And why would somebody trade for him if he doesn't improve? Competitive teams won't want a mid-4 or higher ERA starting pitcher that is a FA after the season. Where is the value in that? Either he turns it around and we have a pitcher of value adding to our depth, or he doesn't turn it around and likely leaves next year as a FA and we get a good draft pick. Would you give him a qualifying offer?
