The upside of it all is that the Astros have broken me, and thus I myself am too broken to break anything else. Oh come on, it's just a couple of trades that may or may not end up bad. I doubt any of these guys go on to resemble Bagwell or Yordan-type deals. It's that plus the horrendous, gut-punch losses and the resulting loss of the division lead all at the same time. But they don't have to resemble Yordan or Bagwell types for it to be a terrible trade. And it's about more than the trade in a vacuum; it's another in a growing list of dumb moves that makes it clear this organization is spiraling further and further away from sound decisions to old school foolishness. No one trade or signing will sink you, but a whole string of them by people who aren't doing their jobs well eventually will. |
