Sir Squat a Lot gives up the double. What a way to lose the shutout.

Just tuned into the Yankees-Blue Jays game, didn't know the Blue Jays picked up Clippard.

Giles picking up right where he left off. So who do you think shows up first to explain to us how giving up a double and a single and run scoring wild pitch in one inning was really good work by our “closer.”

No loss with Clippard, Stanton took him into the third deck.

Sir Squat a Lot with the wild pitch to blow the shutout. I haven't changed my mind about Giles. He's a head case that we can't trust to save games consistently. First thing he does is through a belt high fastball that Andrus hits for a double......got lucky when Beltre popped up. Then, he blew the shutout. I wish Strom and Hinch would figure out a way to make him eliminate that ridiculous squatting routine. He looks like he needs to take a crap every time he does that. He reaffirmed by wish for them to sign Greg Holland before someone else gets him. Great job by Verlander who showed why he the ace that deserved the opening day start. The rotation that Hinch is starting with reminds me of when we had JR Richard followed by Joe Niekro's knuckleball, and then Ryan's heat. Followed Ryan with Bob Knepper. Let's hope that the Springer home run is an omen....did the same thing last year and we won the WS.

I really like the batting order Hinch had today. I like Bregman at #2.

Giles picking up right where he left off. So technically, he is still our closer?

A's and Angels slugging it out in the 11th. LAA has used nearly their entire bullpen. What if this goes 18?

I didn't understand why Giles would be brought into a non-close situation. Peacock could have easily finished the game. The next couple games might conceivably be close in the 9th so better to save the closer for those situations.

What a way to lose the shutout. Do you think Doug puts this appearance in the “clean inning” column for our boy? No, this one goes into the non-clean appearance bin. Giles does have many of these.

In the 60's it would have been done without any second thought.

The other day union brought up a good point, how is Colin going to handle the new role. Also if they have the idea of using Peacock in a starting role, he will have to be stretched out, just like they did last season. But with the starting rotation in shambles beginning last season it was a different situation.

Good to see division rivals exhausting each other from Day 1. Noe Ramirez finally gave out in the 11th. Angels hardly had anyone left to pitch.

If we are going to bring on a guy to give up a double, a single and wild pitch in a run in one inning, we don’t want to waste that kind of performance. We need to save that kind of performance for the games that are close in the 9th.

I wonder what Hinch would do if guys start bunting to beat the 4-man outfield. If the batter were to simply show bunt but not go through with it, would Hinch snap the defense back to normal position?
