If Giles has as strong a regular season as he did last year, we'll be fine. The postseason is where he really struggled.... The Giles we witnessed yesterday is the pitcher for the most part we watched all during the regular season. The 99 miles Giles uses his slider as his number one, on any given day I am sure Giles is not going to know how effective his slider will be. What is surprising is why he cannot get more movement on his FB.

None of that's wrong, but I'll take a 90% success rate (including a dominant 2nd half) and a 2.30 ERA again and say thanks. Sure there are better closers out there, but he isn't going to be the reason we fail (if we do). The disappointment for me was the total unreliability in the postseason.

Hey Bregs next year you have to get the thundering 13 in that "Home Run Derby" they are advertising on ESPN for the All-Star game. That team has a few candidates that could win it. The starting age is 14. We may do that.

What good is a closer if he can’t pitch in the postseason?

What good is a closer if he can’t pitch in the postseason? It means he isn’t a concern until the postseason. That being said, it was his first postseason. I’m not going to hold it against him forever unless he doesn’t improve. He wasn’t the only weak postseason performer last year either. Reddick still hasn’t gotten a hit...
