1. Sign Bregman. 2. Sign Kikuchi. 3. Move Diaz to 1B. 4. Trade Tucker. 5. Promote Melton and hope for the best. 6. Trade Framber if out of contention by the AS break. 7. Promote Salazar to primary backup catcher. 8. Sign Santander Altuve 2B Bregman 3B Yordan DH Santander RF Diaz 1B Pena SS Caratini C Melton CF Chas LF Framber Brown Kikuchi Blanco Arrighetti No McCullers? No reason to believe he'll ever be back at this point. And if he does, it has to be as a reliever.

Melton is just not ready yet. They didn't even send him to the Arizona Fall League. Almost certainly going to be a disaster if he comes up out of Spring Training.
If we're trading Tucker, they may need to go sign Teoscar Hernandez. He's an imperfect hitter but he's about the only guy out there other than Juan Soto who can be a legit everyday piece in your lineup. Regardless of trading Tucker and/or signing Hernandez or not, I still think Jesse Winker is a perfect fit; with all the right-handed-hitting outfielders with good defense and questionable bats we have (Chas, Meyers, Dubon all fit that), Winker is the opposite; awful outfielder with a really legit left-handed bat. Perfect complement and shouldn't cost a fortune.

I don't know if they would do the deal, Painter is a tremendous prospect and Crawford is great too. I would certainly do it, but one year of Tucker and Pressly might not be enough. I'm also not a big fan of Castellanos. Maybe we could go really big. Tucker, Framber, Pressly for Painter, Crawford, Abel, Nori and McFarlane.

I’m not a big fan of Castellanos, but I think the Phillies would want to package his 2 years/$40 M (20 AAV) remaining contract into the deal. That’s why I proposed one year of Pressly’s $14M to soften the blow. At least Castellanos would be a stop gap until Melton and Crawford were promoted. 2025 Dubon, Meyers/Chas, Castellanos 2026 Melton, Crawford, Castellanos 2027 Melton, Crawford, Hopefully Elite 2027 FA

Like you said, this team no longer has the luxury of “next main step”, with letting their top players walk away in FA and having enough talent to remain a top playoff contending team.

But that's a move that would just increase payroll further for a guy who will struggle to post two wins. But maybe it's necessary. They do need to do something with the outfield. Melton isn't developing super fast and has hit tool question marks. Matthews was supposed to be a SS/CF but he has not played a single inning in the outfield since being drafted (about 2/3rds SS and 1/3rd 3B). Gilbert is gone. Tucker probably won't be extended. Meyers has been inconsistent with the bat. Even if Chas rebounds, he'll be a 31 year old free agent after the 2026 season. They've got to stop risking Yordan in the OF so often. And aside from Janek, they went very pitching/defense heavy in this year's draft. The outfield is going to be a huge problem very soon if they don't do something.
