If the Astros re-sign Bregman, but can’t make any other significant signings/trades, are the 2025 Astros worse, same or better than the 2024 Astros? Staying with the question above, Astros re-sign but make no significant signings/ttades, what do you think the 2026 Astros will be like? I can't imagine they stay pat if they don't get Bregman back. They need to upgrade at other spots if they can't keep Bregman or get another good 3B. You can't lose Bregman and not do something else. Even I would be disappointed with Crane if that happened.

I was really hoping for the Yankees to get swept. Hopefully the Dodgers can finish it tonight and Judge strikes out a few more times.

I’m all for re-signing Bregman to a relatively expensive contract. I think 5 years/$150M and 6 years/$168M are extremely fair offers. They are probably more than the Astros should be offering . Bregman should be pleased with such offers, and hopefully take them. Yes, there stands to be teams that will pay more. If the Astros offer Bregman one of those contracts, and he takes it, then I think that gives the Astros more of a solid basis to build/make future decisions on. If they’re unable to keep him, then the Astros’ future is really concerning. Would Crane really offer Tucker a 8 year/$300M+ contract? Yes, I said +. 8 years/$300M might not even be close enough to keep him, he could very well be offered ludicrous $$$$ by other teams. I just consider the Astros more likely to offer Bregman a contract he would accept, than Tucker. At this point, Astros only can get draft pick compensation now if Bregman does sign elsewhere. Even if that draft pick compensation can beat the odds, and become a major league player one day, it will not be for several years. I definitely don’t want that to be the only outcome for the Tucker scenario. I just hope Crane accepts reality this offseason, the can go no longer be kicked. FTR - if some team will give great trade value for Valdez this offseason, he should be traded too. I understood when Todd posted his scenario on waiting until the trade deadline, if the Astros are not in playoff contention. However, I take the bird in the hand approach. If there is a great trade package for Valdez in the offseason, take it!

But I'm not going to demand his head on a spike for only having the 3rd highest payroll in the league.

Separate questions, did the Astros receive draft pick compensation for George Springer and Carlos Correa?
If they did, who did they draft and where in the minors are they now/how are they doing?

Though I didn’t watch any of the WS games I did catch the highlights. The Dodgers won and I can’t say I’m happy but it was preferable to the NYY winning. Kind of like the choice between a root canal or perirectal abscess. It’ll be interesting to see how Brown & Co. position themselves for next spring.

Crane,
Since you’re not going to re-sign Tucker to a MEGA contract, please trade him, so the team will be better for years to come. Brown has already said the team will have to get creative this offseason. I would say with having the 3rd largest payroll, up against the tiered two luxury tax, that means they’re unable to spend a lot of $$$$ in FA.
Therefore, last year’s team is the ceiling of what it could be this year. And we saw last year’s team is only competitive in their own weak division. While the Astros are forced to stand pat, other AL teams can improve their teams.
Thus, the writing is on the wall. Trade Tucker and Valdez this offseason. Bagwell and you need to let Dana Brown do his job!

That’s a lot and I don’t think Crane will take care of enough of that.
