Keuchel vs Duffy
Last night, Boston and New York joined the 50 win club started by our Astros.

3.5 games up!
Time to keep pulling away and then going after NYC.

Merrifield is a dangerous batter vs lefties (OPS over 1.050). Other than him, though, the Royals really haven't got anyone else hitting above the league average against lefties. Keuchel needs to take advantage of a night when he isn't having to face Judge, Stanton, Betts...

There's no shame in walking Merrifield in order to get to a weaker hitter in the order.

It should be an easy win, but Keuchel still needs to be careful to not give up any long balls to Salvy Perez, or Moose, or Merrifield.
The offense should make mincemeat of Duffy like they did in the last game, but you never know.

Stassi homered off Duffy last time and should catch instead of McCann. White probably has a better chance of XBH or HR than Gurriel off Duffy, so I'd like to see him start at first.

An interesting look into the party life for the Rangers on the road (and apparently, the Royals at home:
"Matt Moore’s shift to the bullpen was supposed to prompt a long-term rotation audition for lefty Yohander Mendez, but plans quickly changed in that regard. General manager Jon Daniels told reporters this week that Mendez was optioned to Triple-A as a disciplinary measure after violating team rules (link via Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram). Wilson reports that Mendez and second baseman Rougned Odor were out for a night with some friends on the Royals while visiting Kansas City and the evening “got out of hand.” Police weren’t involved in the incident, Daniels emphasized. “Part of the development of where we are as a club is upholding a certain level of standards for veterans and young players alike,” Daniels said of the incident. “Part of the development process of young players is on the maturity side as well. I’d say that’s kind of where this one falls.” Manager Jeff Banister added that Mendez will now need to earn his way back to the big leagues." - mlbtr

Tonight's game should be an easy win for the good guys but you just never know sometimes the ball bounces in funny ways. Might be a good look at Moose though.

Well, at least we know one strategy for beating the Rangers and Royals. Have the Astros players on the DL take them out for a night on the town, get 'em liquored up, then see how well they play the next day.

A dozen or so posts on a GDT at 9:00 am? Wondered what was going on.
The Royals were a powerhouse not too long ago. Strange how fortunes change so quickly.

That's why it's important we don't neglect the farm system while we try to maintain this team. I know we need to make a trade or two to keep up with NY, most likely, but it needs to be reasonable.

Yes sir, from that chart that was posted he seems to hit pretty good at MMP I'm not sure about him. You DH him or move Bregman to LF? He's seem like a Gattis than can play weak-mediocre defense at 3B.

I still don't see why some think White should be in the lineup. Gurriel has been clutch with runners in scoring position. White had one double since being recalled. He is one of those "blocked" prospects who should be included in a deal for a reliever.

He is one of those "blocked" prospects who should be included in a deal for a reliever. It's because White dominates LHP much more than Gurriel does, and because White is much more likely than Gurriel to get a HR, double, or walk... Gurriel is more of a singles guy who rarely walks, so he's got this high BA but low OPS. Besides getting on base in 3 of his 8 PAs with the Astros this year, he maintained an OPS over .800 in the majors last year and over 1.000 at AAA this year... overall he stands to produce more at the plate than Gurriel, especially against LHP.

My point being that Gurriel has driven in clutch runs.......we are still waiting for White to do it. The only time he looked good was at the start of the 2016 season when he went on a home run tear against the Yankees in NY. He cooled off quickly and has never shown that he can produce in the majors since that time, although he as worn out AAA pitching. At this point, I had rather have Gurriel at the plate when we need a run driven in.
