What a great player. He knows his role, and he just does it. Kemp has been a very nice surprise. Conceivably, if Altuve were to slump for a month and Kemp were to go on a tear, Kemp could become the team batting avg leader. |

On the other end of the spectrum from Bregman we find Springer. Since game #1 of the Oakland series on June 12, George is 6-58 with 11 strikeouts....., and still in the #1 spot in the batting order.

George is killing us at leadoff in June. How bad has he been? In the month of June he has a lower BA, OBP and OPS than Marisnick. That is scary bad.

We can all see George is pressing, but AJ most likely will not move him. What is keeping pressure off AJ is that the team is winning, if it was something with the won-lost record going the other way, AJ I am sure would be feeling the pressure to make some kind of move. But most likely I am wrong. |

Just looking at his June numbers, the things that stand out are * he's laying off a lot of pitches in the zone (around 40%) * he's swinging on top of the ball a lot, generating ground balls more than usual * because he's not barreling up the ball often, he isn't getting hard contact, so not as many nice results. One thing in George's favor is that his BABIP the past month is really low, around .211, so he should naturally rebound to about a .265 BA instead of the .190s where he is hitting now. |
