Realistically, for the 2018 team to get ahead of the 2017 team's record, it will probably have to be in a month or so. At the end of 100 games, the 2017 team was 67-33.
By the end of July, they were 69-36, which might be a mark this year's team can surpass.
If the baseball gods have any mercy, August 2018 won't be nearly as bad as August 2017.

Doug, I think that May was this year August. Even though they have been winning pretty good here in June. Two of the top 3/4 have been terrible at the plate.

Seattle has a pretty easy schedule through the All Star break, so we need every win. We.re about to end our streak of playing teams below .500 so our opportunity to build a lead may have waned.
I know some of us were disappointed taking 2 of 3 from the Rays, but The Yankees and Nationals would love that right now.

Seattle is going to have to be active come trade deadline, for me to start to worry about them.... Their rotation outside of Paxton is average to a little above average....

Estrada and Keuchel with fairly identical numbers. Both with 4 wins. Keuchel has 8 losses & Estrada has 7. Keuchel with the better ERA 3.9 compared to Estrada's 4.4. I'm thinking we take this one something like 5 to 4.

Estrada was horrible in April and May, but has had 4 or 5 really good games so far this month. He pretty much blanked the Yankees a few weeks ago. However, he will have to pitch to Mighty Mouse, Chinito Cubano, Jake the Snake, and maybe even the Great White Shark. So good luck to him, he will need it.

In baseball terms the long 162 game season is like a continual series of sine waves that ebb and flow. Luckily our ebb was in August last season instead of October. In simple terms, it seems the luckiest of the 10 playoff teams are the ones that happen to be hot come October 1st. Lets hope we are one of those.

The Indians 22 was long forgotten when they choked against the Yankees.

Similar lineup to yesterday but Stassi and Kemp instead of McCann and Marisnick.

Because the manager knows Joke will surely strike out at least 4-5 times if he plays today.

Statcast has new sprint speed numbers up for the Astros: baseballsavant.mlb.com/sprint_speed_leaderboard?year=2018&position=&team=HOU&min=5Kemp comes in tied with Bregman. Correa has fallen back a bit (maybe this back injury is slowing him down?) I wouldn't have guessed that Marwin is nearly as slow as Gattis. For a big man, Gattis motors around the bases all right. In fact, if McCann represents the tying/winning run late in a game and Gattis is the only player on the bench, it may make sense to pinch run Gattis.

according to Statcast, the Astros hitter most likely to see a jump in BA and SLG is Bregman; the two players most likely to slump are Stassi and Kemp.

Gurriel actually has decent speed when he really runs. Interesting.

Statcast also says the Astros have the best defense in the AL in terms of net outs recorded above average. The Astros have recorded a net positive 10 outs that the computer says they shouldn't have recorded if they were a normal/average defensive team. The Yankees are at +3 and Red Sox are +1. Tonight's opponent is at -3. baseballsavant.mlb.com/outs_above_average?type=team&year=2018&min=5

I love the Stream that chooses random information. Like it currently says we're in a weather delay... LOL!
Now it's back to: Event will begin shortly.

I predict that there will be a day in the future when the roof gets stuck during movement. Would hate to be the fans sitting in the seats right under where that roof ends.

I wonder who gets to retrieve the ball hit into that catwalk? I'm sure it's there for a reason.
I'm just imagine them deciding to open the roof and jarring the ball loose during play. From the magic disappearance to the magic appearance...

Gomez already has brain damage.

1 George Springer CF 2 Alex Bregman 3B 3 Jose Altuve 2B 4 Yuli Gurriel 1B 5 Evan Gattis DH 6 Josh Reddick RF 7 Marwin Gonzales SS 8 Tony Kemp LF 9 Max Stassi C
I honestly think this is the best possible lineup at his point in time.
