For those who wonder why C. Perez instead of Tucker, we've only got 1 day off till the All Star break and while the bull pen isn't stressed now, it could be so very quickly.

I hope Reed shows more than he did the other times he's been called up......I would have rather seen Tucker than Perez. Ou pen is not over-worked so why Perez? Tucker has earned a chance. I doubt the Astros want to waste a year of control on him right now when they don't need to. They can call up Tucker in September, wait until mid May next year and still get that extra year of arbitration on him. Calling him up now and the Astros lose that.
They are in no rush to promote him right now and thinking long term I'm sure. Only way he gets called up now is if Springer was out for an extended period of time.
Except for the fact that Tucker is a high draft pick and raking at AAA and the fact that the team is barely getting anything from LF, a spot occupied by an overachieving utility infielder, I can see what you’re saying. I don’t agree with it, but I can see what you’re saying. |

Derek Cole new to the team? Never heard of him, lol. Isn't that Garrit's middle name? It has to be. I couldn't have made a mistake or been thinking about Fisher or anything like that.. I want him up too. But we don't need him right now. September for me would work at least to give him some ABs before the playoffs. Would love to see how his bat plays then. This would also keep his rookie status alive for next year. I have a good feeling he could be a rookie of the year candidate. |
