Keuchel starting Say what you will but Keuchel has actually given up ZERO HRs his last 5 starts (Astros are 4-1 in that span) The only game we lost was the game he gave up zero runs in an 0-1 loss.
Yes I am also well aware those games were against KC, Tex and Tor

Interesting state on Keuchel.
When a hitter puts the ball in play during his first 3 pitches of the AB (not counting a 2 strike count) batters are 67/179 .374 avg with 10 HRs
After an 0-2 count or from the 4th pitch of an AB and on batter are only 47/254 .185 avg with 2 HRs
If Keuchel can get to pitch #4 or beyond then he has a much better chance of getting the guy out. Problem with that is he likely won't be able to go 6+ innings at that rate with each batter. Still, keeping his stuff away from the middle of the plate to start the AB is key.
On 3-2 counts batters are hitting 6/50 .120 avg 13 BBs and 9 Ks. .297 OB% That's actually very good for having a full count.
Also. Runners in scoring position with 2 outs he holds batters to 10/46, .217 avg, zero HRs, 5 BBs and 14 Ks. So he still does well with the pressure on.
I expect Keuchel to have a 6 innings, 1 or 2 run game for the win. Limiting them to 5 hits or less

7/3 @ Tex 7.0 IP 2 ER 6/27 Tor 5.1 IP 6 ER 6/22 KC 6.0 IP 0 ER 6/16 @kc 6.0 IP 0 ER
3 of his last 4 have been good. He just needs his control and an umpire who doesn't squeeze the strike zone. He lives on the edges.

He has rarely looked like the same pitcher who won the Cy Young in 2015........he has dug us an early hole in many of his starts. Luckily, the other starting pitcher was worse than Dallas in some of them.

I hope that Keuchel throws a great game today. I hope he finishes the year with an era below 3.50. I hope he does well in the playoffs for us. I hope that we extend a QO to him. And I hope that he signs with someone else for a lot of money.

We're 1 game behind the Red Sox and the 2017 Astros after 91 games. So much for the feared World Series hangover effect.

If Springer is DH, Hinch has lost his mind.

I just failed to change it from yesterday. I was shocked to see both Tucker and Kemp in the outfield.
I think he's afraid he'll make a Blue Star play on defense and get sent down tomorrow...

Springer being used as DH instead of Gattis doesn't make sense. Gattis doesn't need a day off.

I’m not liking him being out there with Springer at DH, but Hinch is desperately trying anything to get him going. Gattis having a day off is just dumb.

When is Correa coming back? They just said on the radio that he still hasn’t resumed baseball activities.

When is Correa coming back? They just said on the radio that he still hasn’t resumed baseball activities. I think this whole "back stiffness" thing with Correa is more than just a little mysterious........Nobody seems to know just when this back stiffness began.....They haven't been exactly forthcoming in explaining what happened, and, don't venture a guess on when he is coming back. I have always been the suspicious type, and, I wonder just what it is that they are NOT telling us. All Hinch says is that he is coming in daily to "get treatment". Something doesn't add up. Hinch deciding to rest Gattis who does nothing but hit and using Springer instead is something I would like to hear him explain. Why would you rest a DH who is hot with the bat to use a guy who is in the worst slump of his career?

Altuve has played in more games then anybody else in the AL. I’d give him the day off. Play Kemp at 2b. Springer in CF. Gattis DH. But I’m just a fan.

He had not been hitting and looking lost at the plate, and, then al of a sudden this "back stiffness" showed up. Fishy to say the least.

He’ll need a rehab assignment too. All bets are off if it’s something more serious. The Astros are winning without him though. For now.

Nothing on Rotoworld about Gattis being ill in any way. I think the Astros win this one anyway although it’s hard to sweep a season series playing 7 games.
