I think he's trying to see if it will heal with extended rest before deciding if he needs something that will end his season. It's not rumor or inside information. Just speculation based on a lot of people I know with back issues.

Hinch may be thinking that this game has a high chance of being a blowout, hence he fears Springer hurting himself making a heroic play on a fly ball in an 11-1 game. George doesn't seem to know when to turn off Superman Mode.

One way to prevent that is moving George to the DH spot.
