McHugh may be the most under appreciated player in baseball. Springer? An All-Star? What a crock. The so called baseball punditry always puts out. an ASG snub list. All the goof balls left McHugh off as far as I am concerned.

I would rather face the Yankees and their predominantly free swinging lineup than I had the Red Sox.

I think you missed the thread target. Still prancing her out in a bikini at the ASG would work for me.

I think they used to announce the pitchers like a day or two later when the AL and NL All Star managers were still allowed to pick the pitchers and reserves. I guess that went away since the managers no longer pick their pitchers and reserves.

Why are they always changing things here and there? Leave baseball alone.

I would rather face the Yankees and their predominantly free swinging lineup than I had the Red Sox. Me too. OP, but for other reasons. To me the #1 factor of playoff choice hinges on the opponents top 3 starters. If I had a choice between Servino-Sabbathia-Tanaka and Sale-Porcello-Rodriquez I'd think I'd prefer facing the Yankee's staff this year.

Since they are Yankees, they get a free pass for all of those K's The Yankees are hitting in the .230s over the past month. Crap team. they are still dangerous and the media darlings who always get more attention than other teams. The media is still in shock that the Astros could take out the Red Sox, Yankees, and Dodgers to win the WS.

McHugh still has a chance. Don't they add pitchers later? Since Cole and Verlander were named, I thought it was already announced. I might be wrong. There are numerous steps that keep the roster in flux for as long as possible to keep interest up over time. The Fan Voting is only the first step, then player additions, then commissioners additions, then fan voting again, and then commissioners additions due to players unable to play.
It's all very marketing oriented so everybody gets a participation trophy.

McHugh, Morton, and Stassi are more deserving than Springer
Of course the ASG has gotten to be too much of a popularity contest so I can see why Springer would be voted in. He's a good man and a likeable player, I get that, but in purely baseball terms, there are more deserving players than him this time around.

Well the player vote had some say in Springer getting in, so that has to have a little value.

i don't think the manager has enough say in the roster. No doubt more Astros would be on the team if it were up to AJ, which is basically what he told ESPN last night when interviewed. He would take George, but, he would also take Morton, McHugh, Gurriel, and Gattis.
George is well liked by players on the Astros and on opposing teams, plus being MVP in last year's played a part I'm sure. The main two Astros who got screwed are Morton and McHugh.

From Rotoworld....
With a total of 4.84 million votes, Jose Altuve was the leading vote getter among all MLB players for the 2018 All-Star Game. Altuve will start at second base for the American League squad for the fourth consecutive season. It's the sixth All-Star Game selection in his career. He'll be joined in the American League starting lineup by Wilson Ramos, Jose Abreu, Jose Ramirez, Manny Machado, Mike Trout, Mookie Betts, Aaron Judge and J.D. Martinez.
