Why was Altuve taken out? Just for a rest?

Why was Altuve taken out? Just for a rest? Because Tyler White is soooo on fire right now. Had to give him ABs
Actually, I think Hinch feels more comfortable with a 6 run lead with Giles in AAA

White now has 2 HRs his last 3 ABs... Time to package him up for Ramos

That, my friends, is why White is not in Fresno and why he probably shouldn't be headed back there in the immediate future.
Keep in mind that he did that off a righty, and White has predominantly always been a gifted hitter against lefties. This is showing real improvement over his 2016 season, and even 2017 in some departments. His plate discipline stats look very similar to Bregman's. While White probably won't hit for a wRC+ over 150 like Bregman does, White can certain sustain 120, which is very good by league standards as well as in comparison with other Astros hitters.

Guess that came and bit you in the rear. Astrodoug kept saying White was due. I think he will come around with the bat a lot sooner than most give him credit for. His fielding not so sure. Sure would be nice for him to start really hitting giving Gattis something to think about.

Why was Altuve taken out? Just for a rest? That would make sense.

The Gattis HR was 388 ft, White's was 386, and Reddick's was 371.

When Correa comes back who do you suggest gets sent down?
White or Perez?
I happen to think both are being showcased for a trade and if Perez comes up today and has a scoreless 1 or 2 innings then that's what the Astros are waiting for

Sure would be nice for him to start really hitting giving Gattis something to think about. He was on fire. Hit a HR in his last 2 ABs going into today. Astros want him to start hitting for trade offers. That's why he is up in July and Marisnick was sent down in favor of him
And that comment was more about Altuve being taken out with a 6 run lead.
And you hit the fielding right on queue

That's 2 HRs for White in 40 PAs this season. Not bad considering the MLB average is about 1 HR per 30 PAs, and White was pressing and all when he came up from the minors.

I would like to see Marwin no longer be an Astro, honestly. Given the choice between White or Perez, I'd keep White and send Perez back down for further refinement. Sooner or later a starter is going to go on the DL and Perez will be right back up anyway.

I feel he could hit .250 with a handful of dingers in the majors. But I think that's his ceiling. I feel JD Davis has a higher upside overall and the Astros need to get what they can for White in a trade this year before he bottoms out.
I don't see White even being a Santana and probably a Villar at best when it comes to hitting. Fielding wise he needs work

Can Kemp play short at all? I would rather have seen him in that spot than Marwin over the past 2 weeks

I like how Bregman double clutched like he was asking White "You got this one.... you sure?"

Perez looks like he could be a back-end pen guy. I'd think twice before optioning him

That is exactly how the Astros should beat up on lesser teams.
A win tomorrow puts the July record at 10-4. Not a bad way to go into the ASB.

Perez looks good on the mound.

Wow, Mookie Betts is on a tear. Raised his average from .338 to .362 in only 10 games.
In July he has 22 Hits in 42 ABs for over .500 in that span
This guy could be MVP this year. He's due. Although JD Martinez is right there

I don't want to be the hottest team in baseball until October. So for now, winning two out of three suits me.
