Going with the whole family tomorrow to see Verlander pitch. Don't have to worry about seeing Giles.  Since Liriano is pitching for the Tigers, I will probably be blessed with Tyler White......wish they would bring Jake back for the game.  Why on earth would you hate White after about 40 AB’s when Jake has sucked all his life? FTFY |

With the technology available today, it would seem like if MLB identifies an umpire who is consistently not calling balls and strikes correctly, the league could require that umpire to wear a earphone in one ear while he calls the game and every time he misses a strike/ball call transmit a beep immediately to that earphone he is wearing so that the umpire could see in real time the pitches he is miss-calling and adjust his strike zone accordingly. I’m not saying he should change his call when he hears the beep, but I do think an umpire could be trained to call balls and strikes more accurately by employing such a device. No. No what? You don’t think it would be a good idea to alert an umpire immediately when he misses a ball/strike call? |

And against such an awesome pitcher in a game we had already in the bag. Would you have preferred he struck out? How many HRs does White have to hit this year to make you a believer? More than two. jake has saved more runs with his speed and glove than White has produced with his bat. I believe White will be traded before the deadline. |

Jake is valuable as a defensive replacement in the late innings and as a pinch runner. White does not provide a thing we can't get from someone else. |
