Actually, I think Hinch feels more comfortable with a 6 run lead with Giles in AAA
All the people in attendance would boo loudly if they didn't get to see the Great White Hope............  I feel safer with any lead with Giles not in the bullpen. |

Going with the whole family tomorrow to see Verlander pitch. Don't have to worry about seeing Giles.  Since Liriano is pitching for the Tigers, I will probably be blessed with Tyler White......wish they would bring Jake back for the game. |

With the technology available today, it would seem like if MLB identifies an umpire who is consistently not calling balls and strikes correctly, the league could require that umpire to wear a earphone in one ear while he calls the game and every time he misses a strike/ball call transmit a beep immediately to that earphone he is wearing so that the umpire could see in real time the pitches he is miss-calling and adjust his strike zone accordingly. I’m not saying he should change his call when he hears the beep, but I do think an umpire could be trained to call balls and strikes more accurately by employing such a device. |
