67-40 4 game lead in the division. (Still 6 ahead of Oakland.) 7 games behind Boston for overall lead. 1st in run differential at +179 (only 2 ahead of Boston now) Team OPS+: 113 Team ERA+: 127
Top-5 WAR Players:
1. Bregman (4.7) 2. Verlander (4.6) 3. Altuve (4.3) 4. Cole (3.7) 5. Correa (2.6)
It says something about our last month or so of play when Correa hasn't played but is still in our top-5 and still our 3rd most productive position player (if you like WAR as a general stat).
Cole vs. Paxton
Cole would do well to steer clear of Gordon and Segura, if possible. Only Springer has had much success against Paxton (.296 with 3 HRs in 27 ABs). Paxton has ate us up pretty well this season, but he has had some back issues and has seen his ERA rise up to 3.70. The offense is more than due to wake up even with Altuve and Correa out. With the lefty on the mound we need to see Stassi and White in the lineup. With a really good game Cole could hit the 200 SO mark on the year (needs 14).

Who’s on second?

I've given up putting the lineups I would like to see. It just seems like common sense to me to have Kemp out there (or White at the worst). If we didn't have Altuve, Kemp should be the starting 2B all the time.

One more RBI for Bregman gives him a new career high.

Sometimes...like yesterday...the team is put in a position where they have to try and win in spite of him. He out thinks himself from time to time.

Just defies logic when you have a weak-armed 2B playing LF (Kemp). I guess Hinch is as desperate about the offense as we feel about it.

On the other hand, if he did the Yuli at second/Kemp in LF because he was desperate about the offense, how do you explain the Maldonado (0 for his previous 20 ABs) starting at catcher while Stassi (2-5 with a HR this year vs Minor) sits on the bench?

I know he isn't technically a rookie, but if you take all of White's numbers through these three partial seasons, it would be a pretty solid rookie campaign:
14 HR 42 RBI 35 Runs 23 Doubles .733 OPS (101 OPS+) .6 WAR in 123 Games. (Full season projection of: 18 HR 54 RBI)

How is it overrating when that his actual production (minus the full season projection). I even used some of the easy numbers you like. 14 HR 42 RBI 35 Runs 23 Doubles .733 OPS (101 OPS+) .6 WAR in 123 Games. Those are his career numbers through his first three partial seasons. I'm just pointing out that they're pretty solid numbers so far. Especially for a low draft pick that nobody expected to do much.

I'm not in Tyler White's fan club either. Although I do hope for continued success. Imagine how much that would free us up if he could take over at 1B next year and be productive?

I know Jaken's offensive numbers are terrible. I have always liked good defensive outfielders and Jake is one of the best. I understand what Saint means about White and he bases all of his opinions on nmbers he digs up.....that is OK as it is his right. I simply don't agree with white being as productive as he says. When he starts driving in runs and hitting for extra base, then, I will believe he belongs here.

For the record, Marisnick should be on the roster ahead of White.

You gotta admit though, White produced more in that one game than most of the other position players have produced in the past week. Of course, he didn’t have to do much to accomplish that.

It was nice to exchange those two lesser talented knuckleheads (Giles and Paulino) for one talented knucklehead (Osuna), but I agree with you....we still need another bat. I have confidence that Luhnow will get us one by 3:00 PM tomorrow.

Lots of real subtle stuff in there.
