Wright Jr. vs. Verlander
On paper this one looks so lopsided it ain't funny. However, years of Astros experience says these can be some of the toughest games to navigate.
Stros don't let this one get away on Ring Day!

Stros don't let this one get away on Ring Day! I have been a fan of 45’s/Astros baseball since 1962. Over the years I have seen Houston teams struggle mightily against many a pitcher who was making his ML debut against them. I just checked and this will not be Wright’s ML debut. If it were, I would be concerned. Since it isn’t, our guys should kick hiney!!

Wright started against the Astros once before, in June 2015. Astros won.

The Astros go into today's game with a team ERA of 2.45, good for second place in the AL behind TBR, and an AL-best batting avg of .283. They are also one of 10 MLB teams that have committed 1 error or fewer.

This is the Astros lineup that defeated Wright 3 years ago:
George Springer RF Jose Altuve 2B Preston Tucker LF Evan Gattis DH Luis Valbuena 3B Chris Carter 1B Hank Conger C Marwin Gonzalez SS Jake Marisnick CF
So, 5 of those fellows remain and may well play in today's game. If that squad could beat Wright, in theory it ought not be too hard for this year's team. But sometimes baseball reality doesn't follow theory/projections very well.

Any news on Correa...I just see he is day-to-day. That is what I heard reported in the post-game report. They said x-rays were negative (i.e. no broken bones), but he has a lot of swelling under his toenail (of the big toe) and it's all purple/black from the bleeding that occurred. Not sure why Correa stole base right after that injury, but he did. Given that a couple of early season games against the Orioles is not really an "all hands on deck" situation, my guess is they let the swelling go down and when Correa is reasonably comfortable, he will be back. 2 or 3 days on the bench would probably be all it takes and in the meantime, Marwin and Bregman can play SS. Correa could still come in as a pinch hitter if needed.

Here is the correct video. MLB's Youtube channel has the wrong date on this one; it says June 3 but really the game was played on June 2.

Red Sox starters rank #1 in all of baseball with 3 ER allowed in 30 IP for a 0.90 ERA.
