A’s, Red Sox, Yankees, etc.
Astros bullpen doesn’t measure up.

This could be a momentum changer. Yeah, losing one like that can have a lasting effect. We will find out a lot about the mental makeup of this team tomorrow

What a shame. All momentum lost. This team is in trouble losing a heartbreaker like that.

What a shame. All momentum lost. This team is in trouble losing a heartbreaker like that. That’s gonna stick in their minds for a little while. This game was important. The bench celebrated each run they scored. I don’t recall seeing such excitement in other games so early and often. They wanted this one badly and it hurts.

The bobbles by Bregman and Correa that allowed them to tie the game in the 5th came back to bite us.

And Gurriel needs to sit for a day or two. He’s killing them.

And Gurriel needs to sit for a day or two. He’s killing them. I agree. It is also time for Correa to start playing up to his ability..If he can't see he needs to make adjustments at the plate, he's not very bright. He continues getting behind in the count by taking pitches he should drive.

The Astros have three main stragglers this past month: Yuli, Maldonado, and Stassi. All of whom are below the Mendoza line this past month.
Yuli has been especially bad (only .256 SLG!). He's not eligible to play in the minors, except on a rehab assignment.
We probably shouldn't worry too much about catchers not hitting well; their main contribution is on defense. But the team needs Yuli to hit at least .280 if he isn't going to work walks.

It would also help if the replay official didn’t F up the call like last night.

It would also help if the replay official didn’t F up the call like last night. Rarely do I ever gripe about umpires, but that call was egregious. Worst of the year. There’s no angle that shows Maldonado not tagging Laureano by the time his left hand touched the plate. I could understand the call if the initial ruling was safe, but it was not.

Call was way too close to have been over-turned and that cost us the game. I know Yuli has been in a slump, but, I wonder if everyone who expected Correa to come right back and contribute are surpised that he is still basically dead weight in the lineup. He has not played the way he is capable all season.......just as bad before his DL stint as now. He makes a spectular defensive play and turns around and bobbles easy chances that cost us runs. We should have never been in the position for the A's to tie the game. But, as koolade said, the offense didn't do the job. Jackson is a mediocre starting pitcher and we made him look like a Cy Young candidate.

Look the Call might have been the worse for them this year it still doesn't cover the fact that once again they had numerous chances to blow the game open and didn't produce. I blame it more on the offense than anything.
I said in the last game log that I would believe if they came back next game and had a good offensive game. Gattis once again stunk, I won't get into the two guys you guys keep sticking up for as the team's main guys. Correa and Springer have done nothing for well over two or more months for them to even be considered as elite players. Gurriel has gotten the point that you might get some production once a week or so. He needs to sit more than play at this point. HE looks tired and just doesn't have it anymore this year.

the A's have a good bullpen. as a team we seem to coast and then attack the bullpen. that does not work with a pen like the A's have. Every guy they trotted out there had good stuff. the offense needs to attack early and set the tone. If not you waste good pitching like we had last night.

Springer has been mostly AWOL for a long time, mostly before the thumb injury. Best way to describe Correa is he's a no-show when needed to drive in runs and has been that way most of the season. He isn't handling being engaged very well as far as his job is concerned.

The Astros lost yesterday. No one should deny that, but the fact remains that the replay fiasco kept the A’s in it, which aided their win.

As usual we can play the Monday morning quarterback blaming the game on errors and not hitting, but again Rondon does not hold runners on, Laureano was taking such a big lead off first and those couple feet jump gave him the opportunity of attempting to score on the extra base hit and was a difference on the call at home.
