As usual we can play the Monday morning quarterback blaming the game on errors and not hitting, but again Rondon does not hold runners on, Laureano was taking such a big lead off first and those couple feet jump gave him the opportunity of attempting to score on the extra base hit and was a difference on the call at home. I can see Oakland winning 8-1 today. Tying the division lead.

It would also help if the replay official didn’t F up the call like last night. When it is just “your year” things (such as your players avoiding injury, opposing players screwing up at crucial times to give you games [see Haniger 2017], umpire’s blowing calls that go in your favor and the replay official allowing them to stand, opposing managers having brain lapses that work in your favor, checked swing hits at crucial times, etc) just seem to fall your way throughout the year and after a while you to get the feeling that it is just “your year.” I had that feeling last year. I have the opposite feeling this year. The blown recall officials call last night is an example of why I don’t get the feeling that this is just meant to be “our year.”

We have too many pitchers that do a poor job of holding runners on base and that has cost us more than once. Fact is if we had gotten hits when we needed them and made defensive plays in the infield that should have been made, the replay result would not have cost us.

How many walk off homers have the Astros allowed this year? I can think of 2 for Peacock. One against Cleveland and one against Minnesota. Now add Sipp to the mix. There may be others. Interesting that the 3 I can think of were all leading off the inning. Maybe it isn't the Astros season.

Maybe it's time for someone different to make the GDT.

It would be a shame to blow a division where the Stros were in control of it most of the season. This meltdown from my own fan history would match the melt down of the 1964 Phillies to the Cards. But that was the last couple weeks of the season. I think catfish in the beginning of the season did a poll who would win the division and the team slots, who would have ever thought the A's would be fighting for a division. Good odds if you played Vegas. LOL

Playing 162 games is what makes Baseball the greatest game in the World. I keep thinking about how the experts roll with the bandwagon, like the Indians having that 20 plus game winning streak, no one was suppose to stop them at the end of last season. My best one I have with my Yankee buddies was that Severino was a lock for the CY Young. If you like Baseball this ending is going to be entertaining.

Nobody expected Oaklad to be this good. They've really come together. Any other year and we'd be rolling along easily.

No, once again Luhnow and Hinch stayed with the same lineup that overachieved last year. Instead of replacing two-four players they stayed the same. This is the results when those three or four fall back to their low norm and you supposedly Stars are having a subpar season. In fact, this will be considered a very low point in their career we hope.

Luhnow definitely should have found himself a better LF and moved Marwin to the bench, but you can’t blame him for Springer, Altuve, Correa, Gurriel, and of course Marwin for having worse seasons.

They were confident someone in the minors last year would step up and start in LF

Put that Blame on Hinch. HE never wanted to Play the New Guy unless it was a spot and never put in a place to build confidence. That is on HINCH. He played the Older Guys hell or high water. Once he would put in the Prospect he no longer had the feel or confidence to succeed.
