The board has been really slow lately. With all the Winning you would think it would be more lively. College football.

I like the Tampa Lightning in the NHL. I haven’t watch a football game from start to finish in awhile. I watched the Super Bowl. That was the only game I watched last season in college or NFL.

I haven't watch Football for two seasons including the SB. I use to like it as a diversion on Sundays but since they think they are being put down with Millions of Dollars they can bite my ass.

We blew an excellent chance to open the lead in the 8th...Bregman had a rare K going out of the zone. Osuna gave up a bloop hit and then one to Benintendi that scored a run but got JD to hit into a DP Another great job by our pen. Not much to say aboout other than-.......GREAT. AJ has probably found a big piece for the pen for the post-season and we won't have to waste roster spots on Harris and Devenski.

What a game!
The BoSox appeared visibly shocked by Josh James. Between James and Valdez, I'd take James, but at this point they both look like keepers. Not many rookie guys can mow down Betts and Martinez in the same inning.
Poor Maldonado needs a couple days off. What a beating that guy took. I expect McCann wants to play as much as he can anyway, after all that time off.
Altuve seemed to hit the ball on the nose nearly every time. That's a great sign.
Shocking to see so many Astros fans at Fenway. That had to have made it a lot of fun for the Stros.
I get the impression the team would be very comfortable playing there in the ALCS.

Looking ahead to today's game, Porcello has only managed to last 5 innings in each of his last 3 starts. He's tended to get into pitch count trouble and that bodes well for the Astros as we've seen the BOS bullpen not be especially hot this month.
Between the Springer & Marisnick catches, the huge contingent of Astros fans at Fenway, and Josh James laying down the law yesterday, the BoSox have plenty to be apprehensive about.

Astros Team ERA for September is exactly 2.00 (leads MLB) with an AVG against of .206.
Hope the guys aren't taking the Tigers to be pushovers however. That team has a September ERA of 3.10 and an AVG against of only .179. Matt Boyd, Daniel Norris, and Mike Fulmer have all been pitching very well recently. The Tigers have also bee hitting up a storm this month, and the guys doing the heavy lifting for the most part have had hum-drum seasons. Jacoby Jones, Jeimer Candelario, and Victor Reyes are all swinging hot bats, and of course Nick Castellanos too, but for him that is to be expected.
Astros Team OPS for the season stands at .761, which is fourth-best in MLB. I always thought that if the Astros offense could finish within the Top 5 during the regular season, and the pitching held up (which it has), the team would be in excellent condition for the postseason.

Astros may have found someone in Josh James. Great outing yesterday. Astros have several young guns on the rise. Promising future.
Good luck to Keuchel tonight. A sweep would be great headed to Motown.

James is a definite keeper and he did have the Red Sox scratching their heads. Valdez is also a keeper and I'm guessing he is being groomed to take over for Keuchel when he walks. Maldonado caught both games probably because Boston started two lefties. I expect McCann in there tonight with Porcello pitching for the Red Sox. I am trying to get confident with Keuchel facing Bettw, Martinez, and company at Fenway,

Deetz, James, and Valdez can all bring some heat. Seems like three good adds for next years staff. If we lose Keuchel, Morton, Harris, and Sipp that is 4 adds that need to be made with those 3 being pretty darn good candidates.

the 101mph fastball is something we haven't seen from an Astros pitcher in a while
I really like it for the postseason

The make-believe bobsledding in the dugout after Bregman’s home run was priceless. I’m liking these premeditated routines.

I think they try to re-sign Morton and probably make a qualifying offer to Keuchel which he probably won't accept.

Am I the only one who wants to say goodbye to Sipp regardless of how well he finishes the season? The past two years of suck is etched into my brain.

I don't trust Sipp in crucial situations and would not try to keep him. Perez could fit in as a lefty-reliever and we can always sign one that is better than Sipp.

Luhnow rewarded Sipp for his 2015 season by giving him his first multi-year contract of his career. Sipp rewarded Luhnow for his generosity by stinking up the ballpark in 2016 and 2017. Now in 2018 Sipp is pitching for his next contract and amazingly has found a way to be effective. The old saying, “Fool me once, shame on you.., fool my twice, shame on me,” applies here. I don’t think Luhnow will be fooled again.

No need to go outside the organization for pitchers to replace Keuchel, Morton, Harris and Sipp. Quality bats on the farm is a different story. I do hope Tucker and Alvarez realize their potential on the major league level by this time next season.

Speaking of quality at bats on the farm...........we have looked for production in LF most of the season. Teoscar Herndandez has 20 home runs for the Blue Jays this seaason. In return for him, we got Francisco Liriano. In hindsight, we should not have made that trade, but, Teoscar appeared to be blocked from making the Astros. We could have used him this season, but, at the time, it didn't look like that bad of a trade. Thank God when we needed relief help this year, Luhnow got Pressley and Osuna instead of garbage like Liriano and Tyler Clippard.
