This Beer guy looks good. Honestly.... He probably saw tougher pitching in the ACC, and still hit .330 ish and 56 HR's in his 3 years at Clemson I thought someone had said ACC experience was about the equivalent of AA.
Maybe the marketers want a story about him advancing from A to Advanced A to AA to AAA in quick succession.

Drew Ferguson has been kept out of the past few games... is he injured? at first I thought perhaps a team had traded for him and he was home packing his bags. He was hit by a pitch in the top of the 5th inning of Fresno’s game on June 13. He went to the field for the bottom of the 5th. In the top of the 6th he was removed from the game for a pinch hitter. He has not returned. He was placed on the DL on June 19. I haven't been able to find a report on the nature of his injury, but if I had to bet I would bet he got hit on the hand.

Perez with another solid outing. I wish that he had gotten into a game or two while he was up just so we could get a look at him. I just don't think there was an opportunity while he was up. I think they were hoping for a blowout game to begin his MLB career. That has enough pressure in itself without being in a close game. One of the reasons that I wanted to see him pitch was to give us some sort of indication as to whether he was ready to help us this playoff season. He is not ready to help us in the playoffs if he is not ready to throw in a regular season game.

The Astros appear to favor maximizing the prospects chance to succeed rather than the sink or swim technique.
It has it's advantages, but you are left with the question of how they'll react to a maximum stress environment.

Starting an inning with a lead, so long as it is not the ninth, would not be in my definition of sink or swim, and my prospect development technique is also to dress for success. Who knows though they have much more information than I do so perhaps the batters he would of had to face may excel at hitting what he throws. disappointing is all.

Quintana 3-3 with 3 home runs and 6 rbi so far tonight for Corpus Christi. Could have used some of that in Houston.

Say I just read something about Bukasukas having a car wreck in spring training that screwed up his back. He is through with rehab and struck out 6 in 3 innings in a rehab start for Tri city the other day.

He is through with rehab and struck out 6 in 3 innings in a rehab start for Tri city the other day. I wasn’t aware of that. I even emailed a sportswriter who covers the Quad Cities games and he spoke to Mickey Storey about JB and got back with me. Said JB had been sent back to Florida, but no mention of an auto accident. That explains some things.

He is through with rehab and struck out 6 in 3 innings in a rehab start for Tri city the other day. I just checked out Bukauskus’ player page. He has made 3 rehab starts...one with GCL Astros on 6-29 and two with Tri City on 7-4 and 7-9. In his two games at Tri City he threw 5 innings, gave up no runs, 1 hit, 2 walks and struck out 7. That is good news. Right now he is still listed on the Tri City roster as “rehab” and on the Quad Cities roster as “7 Day DL.” If he pitched on the 29th, 4th and 9th, he should be due to pitch again on the 14th.

I saw the article on the Tri City home page under news. They said that it was not a major accident and they thought it was an issue with a muscle but finally figured out that he had kind of kicked something out of alignment. Went and got his back cracked and bingo, everything good. He should make some good progress now, here is keeping our collective fingers crossed.
