Fresno playing in the 5th inning right now. Straw is 2-3 so far and has stolen 2 bases. He now has a combined 50 stolen bases this year at AA and AAA and has been caught stealing just 7 times.

Taylor Jones looks more like Jon Kemmer than the real deal. Yes. He is off to a slow start at AAA. The same can be said for Arauz at High A.

That Fresno affiliate does a great job with promotions. Hoping they do as well next season in Round Rock.

If a couple starting pitchers go on the DL heading into the ASB, that creates a couple spaces on the active roster for minor leaguers currently on the 40-man. Who gets the call? Maybe does Buddy Boshers throw an inning with the Astros? There's Dizzy Dean Deetz too.

If we had a couple starters go on the DL, I could see Boshers called up and put in the pen while McHugh and/or Peacock make a spot start or two. I could also see Cionel Perez given a start. What do you make of this guy Cy Sneed. He is like that box of chocolates. You never know what he is going to do when you send him to the mound. You might get a complete game shutout or he might just as easily not last 3 innings.

As erratic has he's been, I can't see Sneed getting added to the 40-man any time soon.
Martes was very unpredictable like that last year too. The last I heard on him was that he might return to pitching by the end of this month.
Armenteros has been very good for more than the past 2 months. I'd like to see him with the Astros by September.
It's looking like we may see Armenteros up with the big league club before either Whitley or Framber Valdez.
Dyxhoorn may have entered a September call-up as well.

That guy Dykxhoorn came out of nowhere. He has really been pitching some good ball. Framber Valdez has been inconsistent. I really had high hopes for him.

I just can't wait to see Giles in a Taco Uniform. Pretty apt since he has no balls.

I still think Reed is a Justin Smoak kind of prospect. He needs to get some discipline and trim another 20 lbs of jelly off that frame of his and he might develop into something. They were making a big deal of his off season weight loss and he definitely looked better but he still does not look like a professional athlete. I am pulling for him, hate for us to have two #1 first base prospects go up in flames. I thought I was alone on Reed...he sure makes it hard to be a supporter. Reed will never be good enough to crack the Astros roster and needs to be offered in a trade.

Corpus Christi catcher Lorenzo Quintana is on a roll right now. He is on a 9 game hitting streak in which he is 14-32 with 2 doubles, a triple and 5 home runs. He is throwing out 33% of runners attempting to steal this season. I’m thinking he will be promoted to AAA soon and share catching duties with Stubbs while Federowitz is in Houston. He could be a good trade chip.

I thought I was alone on Reed...he sure makes it hard to be a supporter. Reed will never be good enough to crack the Astros roster and needs to be offered in a trade. Reed isn’t much to offer. He’s an overweight converted pitcher who barely plays a position. He has power but hasn’t demonstrated consistent hitting yet.

It would depend on who I was trying to trade for and how important adding that player would be to the Astros’ chances of repeating. I would prefer to keep Stubbs.

Would you trade Stubbs because Quintana is progressing well or push for value from Quintana in a trade? Stubbs is not untouchable but given similar value in the trade Quintana would be the first to go. Now if Stubbs is given way more value then it becomes a question as to how much more.

There are several who are now on the 40-man roster who I believe will be removed before the roster has to be set prior to the Rule 5 draft.
