I’m satisfied with Hinch’s moves. The Harris pick was the sketchiest, but if he’s going with the hot hand, then I get it.

I hope AJ pulls all the right strings at the right time. With the days off and our starting pitching, we might not see more than 4 relievers for the entire series.

I always felt Hinch was loyal to a fault to certain players he relies on down the stretch. James must have really made a strong impression on him.
He's still loyal to Will "Kill me now" Harris, but you can't completely fault him going with the hot hand.

With the possible exception of Harris, I think AJ got it right. I don't trust Harris in playoff games......period. I'd rather have Smith

McHugh's the guy not pitching well that I'm worried about. But I get that Smith's strengths don't play to Cleveland's lineup

How do you NOT have Rondon on that list. You know Hinch will have him on there 100% (over James) You were saying?

I’m thinking the Astros go with 11 pitchers. With all the talk I’ve seen at various sources concerning the possibility that they could be on a post-season roster, I am going to go with the assumption that James, Straw and Valdez are all eligible for the post-season rosters Here is my best guess: Cole Verlander Keuchel Morton (if healthy) McCullers (if healthy) McHugh Smith Pressley Osuna Sipp James McCann Maldanado Gattis Gurriel Altuve Correa Bregman Springer Reddick Gonzalez White Marisnick Kemp Straw (filling the role that Fisher filled in 2017) If Morton and/or McCullers is not healthy, I’m thinking they are replaced by Harris and Peacock, in that order. With the exception of Harris instead of Smith, I nailed it...., including having Marisnick, Kemp and Straw on the roster.

Only way he should ever be used is after a game has been decided and I don't expect one of those in this series

Now if the offense will just hit on all cylinders.

I agree with Bear about McHugh. He’s too hot and cold to be relied upon.

Neshak was another guy with odd ball stuff as a reliever. If Hinch would have used Neshak in the 8th inning against KC (game #4 in 2015) instead of Harris- we would have won that series.

If he plays poorly, Smith gets the ALDS slot. I have no argument with that approach. I believe AJ when he says it's about the match-ups. After the Indians; hopefully, we'll have an entirely different match-up to consider, regardless of performance. Whether it's the Yankees or the Red Sox, there will be different match-ups AJ may find more favorable.
But if the offense doesn't show up, the relievers really won't make a difference anyway. The roster appears to be one where we could eek out some 1-0 and 2-1 wins rather than the 12-11 type.
Straw for the extra base as a runner. James for the overpowering pitches in the Strike Zone and the composure to do it. Marisnick for the spectacular game saving defense. These all look like moves based on the expectation of low scoring games.

White Bregman Springer Gurriel Altuve
Those 5 players have hit above league average at MMP this year, so we probably need to see them starting both Games 1 & 2.
It's probably also a good idea to try to bunch them together in the lineup and increase the chances of having a scoring inning.
I trust JV and Cole to keep the Indians scoring to a minimum. Time to put on the battle armor and PLAY BALL!

First Last Pos OPS+/ERA+ 1 George Springer RF 116 2 Jose Altuve 2B 133 3 Alex Bregman 3B 156 4 Tyler White DH 143 5 Yuli Gurriel 1B 108 6 Carlos Correa SS 102 7 Martin Maldonado C 79 8 Jake Marisnick CF 85 9 Tony Kemp LF 108 SP Justin Verlander SP 159
I think the threesome of White, Gurriel and Correa may change with match-ups but that's about it.

If Correa is healthy, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him have a big series. He seems to step his game up a level when playing against Lindor.

Neshek imploded in September that season down the stretch .. he cost us a couple wins. I think it was revealed he had a foot injury

With Smith's history against Stanton and Judge, he'll probably on the ALCS roster if we end up playing NYC (provided we get past Cleveland).

I would issue the intentional pass pretty heavy against NY.

I don't disagree, but you have the same in Marisnick. True. I just hope Kemp can break lose in the playoffs. He has really been struggling. I would say he broke loose.

True. I just hope Kemp can break lose in the playoffs. He has really been struggling. I would say he broke loose. Kemp, Straw and Marisnick all proved to be valuable in the ALDS. I really don’t think there will be a significant difference between the ALDS roster and the roster for the ALCS. Maybe Smith makes the ALCS roster instead of Harris. I think the position players will be the same for the ALCS as they were for the ALDS.

Wonder if AJ will keep Correa in the 7 spot.

Wonder if AJ will keep Correa in the 7 spot. I hope he leaves him right there. The only change I want to see is Harris taken off the roster and replaced with either Smith, Peacock or Rondon. Either is preferable to Harris.

Wonder if AJ will keep Correa in the 7 spot. If I remember right, and that's not always a good bet, Hinch said he wanted to alternate lefties and righties against righties and that is why he moved Correa down, not because of his hitting struggles.
