Nice outings by Harris and Smith. Peacock in the 9th?

Bregman, Altuve and Correa are 0 for 11. Fisher and Jake are K machines. Ten K's again today for Houston.

Nice outings by Harris and Smith. Peacock in the 9th? My guess is Rondon, who hasn't pitched in a few days. Hinch doesn't like the guys to get too rusty. And Rondon used to be a closer with the Cubs too.

8 pitch save. Yeah, I'd say Peacock is becoming the new closer.
Giles can never say he didn't get his chances.

Max Stassi + Charlie Morton co-MVPs of that game

I'm sorry for Giles, but he isn't needed as closer on this team. Peacock works just fine for me. 5-1 home stand. 8-2 on the season. Off to Minnesota.

I think this was the fastest game of the season. Played in under 2 1/2 hours.

Armenteros on the mound for Fresno today. Early in that game still. Tucker, Reed, and Stubbs already have hits.

Fans in the stands said Springer was limping after running to first, and that's why he exited the game.
Hope it's nothing serious but... if George had to be out for 10 days or more, it might put some pressure on the organization to call up Tucker sooner. Tony Kemp is the only other AAA player who could easily cover Springer's position. Kemp has the virtue of low strikeout rate (like nearly Altuve low) but he makes a lot of weak contact and has difficulty reaching base at the big league level. Ted, on the other hand...

C Moran went 2 for 4 with the Bucs today and they won... again.
Also, Mike Fiers threw a great game against the White Sox. Six innings, no ERs. And that is a 1-0 game late. Just like his old team likes to play.

“I give the manager the benefit of the doubt around here, but I'm a little surprised with the sense of urgency he appears to be taking at the end of games when it's only April. As long as he keeps doing that on the field, I frankly don't care what he says in the press about who's the closer and who isn't the closer”

Peacock looks like a great choice to be our closer.........Hinch said Giles was "down today" berause he doesn't want relievers pitching three days in a row. Good excuse to keep the head case out of the game and use the right man to close the game.

Springer did appear to slow up a bit before he got to first and he appeared to have a concerned look on his face as he walked back to the base. George out for 10 days or not, I still don’t think we will see Tucker before mid-June after the point for qualifying for Super Two has passed.

Well they have postponed today's game in Minnesota due to bad weather so if it doesn't improve, maybe tomorrow will be postponed too. Though I imagine that for scheduling reasons they will try to avoid that at all costs. A postponement might help Springer rest up a bit.

Pirates pitcher Taillon just pitched a complete game on 110 pitches. I really want to see Musgrove come back strong from the DL for them.

As an organization the Astros seem intent on not having a World Series let down. So far so good

I missed the game today. Had some stuff to do. Looks like it was a good one. If our #4 and #5 keep pitching like this we will be DANGEROUS.

I noticed that the Orioles starter Wright Jr. (who faced the Astros last week) left the game after recording only two outs in the first inning. Against all odds, the O's bullpen stepped up and they are now battling the Yankees in teh 12th.

Update on Springer --
Hinch said it was just muscle stiffness after his run to first base, and he took Springer out as a precaution; also bc he wanted to give Marisnick an AB as he will be the DH tomorrow

I'm really glad the Astros have avoided these extra inning marathon Games of Bullpen Attrition that the Yankees and Dodgers and Orioles have gotten themselves into. Houston bullpen is just looking so comfortable and stacked now, it's insane.
Literally the two biggest worries fans have a are a (Former?) closer who put up a 2.30 ERA last year and a veteran lefty with a 3.86 ERA and a .222 batting avg against. That's hilarious.
And the Astros are taking a pitching staff to MInnesota that boasts a collective ERA of 2.00 (not rounding... exactly 2.00!).
