If memory serves me correctly, Clevenger depends heavily on batters chasing pitches he throws out of the strike zone. Astros just need to be disciplined and force him to throw strikes. If they do, he won’t make it to the 5th inning.

Since we usually hit better on the road, I give us a good shot.

Seems just that 95% of our participants on our board alone are more informed and spot on than these so called expert pundits.

Keuchel scares me because you never know which version you get...the one who starts strong and keeps them off balance for 5-6 innings or the guy who struggles in the first inning and gets us behind 3-0. I would be more comfortable with Morton in game three, but, we are up 2-0 and have Morton for game four, if necessary. If we can hit Clevenger, I think we will be OK. I think we get Dallas' best effort......just hope he doesn't start out missing his spots and getting hammered. With him, the plate umpire plays a huge role......if the plate umpire won't give him corners and borderline calls around the knees, he can be in trouble.

Correa and Yuli have hit the ball squarely right to the fielders. I’m not worrying about them.

At least he’s interesting. That play-by-play guy is so dull. I like Eckersly......I don't want to have to see ARod.......he makes me I actually like A-Rod. He’s a little quick with the superlatives, but he’s knowledgeable and gives you some insight into the game.

He did last year and will do it again. Makes it more fun to beat them. Most of the guys on mlb network say the Astros are the best team and should win it all again.

WE the people will have a victory today... vote, and get a friend to vote I'll vote, but I always do so it won't impact anything.
ps Is anyone else tired of leftists claiming a moral high ground? With their adamant desire to kill babies, their moral high ground is a rock in the depths of HELL.

After Game 5 of the World Series, it seemed he was secretly rooting for the Astros.

They care less, otherwise they would have given Corey Booker, Bill Clinton, and earlier Ted Kennedy all the same treatment.

The battle between good and evil never stops. Just because evil calls itself good, it doesn't mean that it is. But I do try do limit it to dead threads and not current active game day threads.

According to Rotowire, Jerry Layne is the umpire behind the plate for today’s game. Looking at Keuchel’s career stats with Layne behind the plate, it is apparent that Keuchel is going to have to throw the ball in the strike zone, if he wants to get any called strikes. Keuchel’s SO/W ratio with Layne behind the plate... 1.25...., is one of the very lowest of all umpires. Dallas has pitched 18 innings with Layne behind the plate in his career and struck out just 10 while walking 8.
Clevinger has pitched 10 innings in his career with Layne behind the plate and struck out 7 while walking 4 for a SO/W ratio of 1.75.
For their careers Keuchel has a 4.00 ERA and Clevinger a 4.50 ERA with Layne behind the plate.
It looks like Layne is not the kind of umpire who is going to help these guys by calling a lot of strikes on pitches off the plate. So it would seem that the key for both teams vs the opposing starter is that their hitters be disciplined and lay off the stuff that is outside the zone and trust that this umpire is not going to give Keuchel or Clevinger the called strikes outside the strike zone. Can the Astros batters do that? If they can, I am confident they will score big on Clevinger. Can Dallas contain the Cleveland batters if they don’t chase his pitches out of the zone? I have my doubts.

If the strike zone is going to be a big problem for Keuchel today, could be a good idea to have a quick hook to McCullers/McHugh/James.
Of course whoever takes the mound is going to have to deal with Layne's strike zone, but Keuchel in particular has to have that low strike called.
