David Price all-time against the Astros:
6-2 2.94 ERA
I don't have a great feeling about today. Cole is due for some regression from his last start.

Looking at Astros batters career numbers against Price. White is 0-5 with 4 Ks. Gattis is 1-7 with a triple and 3 Ks. Will Gattis get the start at DH? McCann has actually hit Price pretty good in his career...11-32 with 3 HRs and only 4 Ks. Maldanado 3-15 with a double and 5 Ks. Will McCann get the start? Reddick is 0-11 with 3 Ks. Jake 1-12 with 1 HR and 5 Ks. Will Jake get the start and hold back Reddick for PH/defensive replacement later in the game and let Kemp fill the pinch runner role?
I’m thinking Maldanado gets the start in order to keep Boston’s running game under control and; of course, due to his elite pitch blocking skills on pitches in the dirt or off the plate.

I would give Gattis a start at DH, replace Reddick with Jake, and I doubt if it makes any difference if McCann or Maldonado starts, although I expect AJ to keep Maldonado back there. His pitch blocking skills are superior to those of McCann who lets a LOT of pitches get past him. I stick with Maldonado, even though McCann probably has a better chance of hitting price.
We are due to have a good game against Price. I think we can get his pitch count up and get into their pen early like we did last night.
I still think Straw should have been kept on the roster instead of keeping 12 pitchers.

I see many baseballs flying off of Astros' bats and over the Green Monster.
Price goes 3.

I am not surprised AJ stuck with the same lineup. It's as good as other options although I would have had Jake in CF with Gattis at DH. I like our chances.

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it (lineup). Let’s see if the Astros can score a few off of Price.
55 degrees right now in Boston.

Going up 2-0 and heading back to Houston for game 3 would be huge.

Vic Carapazza calling balls and strikes tonight. Cole has averaged 4 Ks per BB in games Carapzza has called.Price has averaged just 2.23 Ks per BB with Carapazza behind the plate. Hopefully that trend continues and the Astros batters make Price throw strikes.

If they don’t at least foul off inside pitches, Price will continue to have his way with them.

Terrible at bat by Yuli. Youd can't take strike three with runners on base. We cannot afford not to take advantage when Price gives us a chance. We did get his pitch count starting up where we want it.
