Here's hoping for an offensive explosion by the 'Stros!

He sure would like to be if Stassi was pitching.

True story. Before some shoulder surgeries. Now I just spend my time judging other catchers based on race, apparently.

Was just looking at the career stats of Astros batters vs Eovaldi and Boston batters vs Keuchel. Overall both teams have hit the opposing starter well.

One possible good sign for the Astros in game 3. Joe West should be behind the plate. In 3 career games with West behind the plate Keuchel is 3-0 with a 1.54 ERA and 3.60 strikeouts per walk issued. In 2 career games with West behind the plate Eovaldi is 0-1 with a 4.85 ERA and just 0.86 strikeouts per walk issued.

I feel like Joe probably just guesses on most calls these days.

I feel like Joe probably just guesses on most calls these days. Probably so. Did you read the article about Angel Hernandez that I posted the link to? A year or two ago MLB caved to his threat that he would file a suit alleging racial discrimination if the league didn’t allow him to umpire playoff games. Hopefully MLB has decided to call his bluff. It should be easy enough to prove his incompetence by playing in court video of his calls.

Hernandez has become a joke, and sadly West is becoming more of one too if he doesn't retire soon. He'd probably be a fun color analyst from the umpiring point of view during national games.

It's going to take more players with Hispanic-sounding names to complain about Hernandez before anything gets done. Right now, the world is all about diversity, talent be damned. Sabathia came out against him recently.

Hernandez is the worst umpire on the planet......nobody else is close. West isn't very good, but, Keuchel does well with him behind the plate. Buckner is another umpire who is high on the SHOULD BE FIRED list.

Times like this are when Bregman needs to calm down a little. Agree. He also said the Astros and Red Sox were the 2 best teams on the planet. Uh, there’s the NL teams that you just motivated if the Astros make the WS.

For the record, Eovaldi can be tough to hit.

I personally think that athletes in general should be restricted on their social media use

I read today that the inspection of Maldonado's mitt was at the request of umpire chief Joe West. Cora said the BoSox did not request an inspection.
The pine tar on Barnes' hand was pretty clear in Game 2. With Cora denying involvement, I wonder if it makes AJ reluctant to request an inspection of Barnes.
Another question would be -- if Cora is telling the truth, then why is West grilling the Astros while giving the BoSox a free ride?

Times like this are when Bregman needs to calm down a little. While I agree with you that he needs to tone it down. I do like the fact that Bregman is the type to talk and back it up. He isn't going to talk and then just not show up. Bregs has proven he can back it up.

I don't normally go for that kind of stuff, but this team has been a little different than what we've seen from Astros teams in the past. More free-spirited and brash. Maybe Bregman is trying to get them to go after him instead of walking him...

I for one would like to see some chin music for Betts when JV pitches next. Like Bregman, he sure is getting comfortable with that inside corner.

While I don't particularly like Bregman's personality and lippiness...it beats the shit out of Biggio's "It is what it is...sometimes you just have to tip your cap" nonsense.

I have always been a trash talker. If you can get them mad it takes their head out of the game. Don’t talk about their momma but all else is far game.

I always knew what Biggio would say after any loss: "That's baseball". "We'll come out again tomorrow and try our best, blah, blah, blah"........he'd put you to sleepl. I always wondered why they insisted on always interviewing him when you knew what he would say. I can deal with Bregman's trash talk........What pissed me off was that bleached hair.
