Thanks again Bortaz for creating this board after MLB yanked the rug out from under us.
Looking forward to seeing some new faces on the ML roster next season. Morton and Keuchel likely gone, but we have a wealth of good young arms on the farm. James will be on the OD roster. Maybe Whitley too. Will Tucker realize his potential and take over in LF? Will Straw replace Jake? Will Stubbs be one of our catchers? Will Luhnow trade for Realmuto? Will Luhnow obtain a legitimate DH by trade or FA signing? Will Luhnow sign Marwin to a multi-year deal or let him walk? Will Corbin Martin make it to the big league by season”s end? Should be an interesting offseason. Looking forward to a better team next season. Should be fun.

We are lucky to have a guy like Bortaz who would set this up and keep it running about as smoothly as could be expected with a lot of different personalities involved. Olpapa, I hope we do trade for Realmuto and sign Nelson Cruz as DH. I hope he goes all out to sign Marwin to a multi-year deal. I also think he can re-sign Charlie Morton. Goodbye to Keuchel, Harris, Gattis, Maldonado, and McCann. We have to try and keep one of those catchers unless we can sign a FA or trade for a good catcher. I would not be surprised to see Luhnow make a surprise move involving pitching. Will Kyle Tucker and Myles Straw show that they can stick with the Astros? How will Whitley progress? Lots of interesting things can happen. In any case, we should be favored to win the AL West and have another shot at a WS. We can afford to let Keuchel walk due to the presence of James, Valdez, McHugh, and Peacock, who did a great job starting in 2017.

Well everyone, it was an exciting season. Too bad the good guys peaked in the ALDS. Not sure who else is going to participate in a WS GDT's. But am a sour grapes kind of guy, and pretty much lose interest after we are eliminated.
We have a great team, but I am sure Luhnow has nice laundry list going to make us better.

I fell asleep and wake up to one run and 5 hits. Boston is the better team. Glad I fell asleep.

This goes back to Luhnow and Hinch not upgrading the offense back in July or August but alas, August was too late. Injuries ultimately did them in, but why on earth did they give the starting DH job back to streaky Gattis?

The World Series winner is generally the team that gets hot at the right time. We are kind of like the Cleveland Indians of 2017 and we got hot a little too soon. Great team, great season, lots of things to be proud of and now we can look forward to adding some pieces and come back stronger next year than this one. Had a great time posting this year and look forward to some conversations about how to make the team better. Thanks there Frogman, you did a great job.

Hey, still better than the Cubs did after their WS! actually our title-defense ended the way the Cubs ended. We both won Game 7 on the road for the World Series, and lost Game 5 at home in the LCS the next year

2017 Astros = 2016 Cubs 2018 Astros = 2017 Cubs 2019 Astros = 2018 Cubs? ? No way, we have about the same system assets but we are smarter. (Said the young socialist when asked why he could make a called system work when no one else could)

If we lose a one-game playoff to the A's and WC game to NYY next season Dad's gonna rip Hinch a new oneCall it excuses if you will, but part of the reason the A’s were so close was because our core guys (except Bregman) were battling nagging injuries which affected not only their play but also morale. The Indians series lulled them into a false sense of security in which they thought that not being at their best was still enough to get to the World Series. As the ALCS dragged on, they became more and more defeated. The series really ended with the Benintendi catch more than anything else. Game 5 was simply a formality. As far as the A’s, they can offensively go toe to toe with any team. If they or the Brewers manage to get some starting pitching, then look out. Luhnow naturally has to be more aggressive in personnel changes than last offseason, especially since he has to deal with so many free agents both this offseason and next. Next offseason is actually worse (Verlander, Cole, McHugh, Pressly). Michael Brantley would be a solid acquisition to replace Marwin (if he doesn’t want a bench role). All in all, I don’t envy having Luhnow’s decisions. I just hope he gets us a real DH.

They were just too weighed down by bullpen flux and hitters playing hurt. When the heart and soul of your team, a reigning MVP, is reduced to one knee, that significantly affects team play, no matter the record. When Springer and Bregman were literally the only reliable hitters in the lineup, the Red Sox picked that apart. Here’s to hoping for better health and better reinforcements.

Astros need to keep Strom as their pitching coach...And I think Luhnow probably has a couple FA pitchers names circled, ones that he sees the talent/ability, just need to get them over here...like they did with Morton.

And why the team that does makes it look so effortless

The mistakes Hinch made were minimal. The Sox were just better. One thing I hate, though, is the lack of baserunner movement. They need to fix that and rely less on the homer.
