If Morton wants to be an Astro again, do everything possible to make it happen. I had much rather keep him than Keuchel. We MUST get a DH who can drive in runs. Signing Marwin should also be a priority I’m still thinking that Luhnow makes the $17.9 million QO to Morton and Keuchel, but not Marwin. I think he will attempt to sign Marwin to a 2 year deal with an option for a 3rd year, but don’t think he will risk making the QO to Marwin and possibly have him accept it. $17.9 million for one year is a lot of money to pay a Super Utility guy especially when you consider that with the likely arrival of Tucker next season, Marwin would not be playing nearly as much in LF as he has the last couple seasons. Making the QO to Keuchel is a safe bet because you know with Boras as his agent he will decline the QO and test the FA market. I could easily see Morton accepting the QO and that wouldn’t be a bad deal for 1 year of a guy with his ability, provided he is healthy. I agree with you on the DH. I consider that the top priority this offseason. I think Morton and Marwin should be priorities and that making a QO to Keuchel is as far as they need to go, He won't accept.....we are rid of him....and can use that money elsewhere. I would go strong after Nelson Cruz as our DH. Try to trade for Realmuto. I would not be opposed to using Kemp as trade bait for a quality catcher.

Hope Correa can get healthy and stay healthy. Since he missed significant time the last two season with injuries....and back issues like he has dealt with this season can really be a long-term issue....I would put any plans concerning an extension for him on hold until he proves he can stay healthy for a full season. I personally think Correa needs to change his diet like Bregman did in the offseason. Last November my wife had such severe joint pain (a side effect of some of the treatments she received at MD Anderson) that sometimes she had difficulty getting up out of her recliner without my help. When we would make the 2 1/2 hour drive to Houston for her follow up tests I would have to stop a couple times on the way and allow her to get out of the car and walk around to relieve the pain. She did a lot of research on joint inflammation and its causes and discovered that gluten can cause/and or contribute to joint inflammation. So she and I went on a gluten-free diet for 6 months. Going gluten-free resolved her joint inflammation and joint pain issues. A change in diet might help Correa.

From Facebook: Astros pitcher Lance McCullers Jr has a torn UCL in his right arm. Likely will undergo Tommy John surgery. He would miss the entire 2019 season. Stay tuned! Sir, I already posted about this earlier.

McCullers seems to have been mishandled. They should have handled this weeks or even months ago. Sparks would talk about Lance’s declining break on the curveball way before the injury so who knows how long he’s been hurt.
Looks like we need the trainer with the Civil War mustache back.

Seems as if a lot of injuries may have been mishandled. Since Altuve and McCullers may both need surgery, the sooner they know and get it done, the better. Morton's shoulder issues also may be unresolved. The health of these three should be a top priority.

People seem happy to be rid of Dallas... Just a reminder that he ended up with the best ERA out of starters in the ALCS. (Limited data, obviously, but still worth mentioning.)

I don't know that most are in a big rush to help him pack his shit. I think it's more an acknowledgement that he's going to want to be paid more than most of us would be willing to pay, and more than his sometimes-dicey performance is worth.

Regarding Keuchel.......the Astros need to get the health issues concerning McCullers and Morton resolved as well as Morton's contract status before proceeding with Keuchel. If Boras thinks the Astros are desperate to keep Keuchel, the price goes up. Frankly, I would not let Keuchel hold us up since we have McHugh, Peacock, Valdez, James, and possibly Whitley to go into the rotation.
Eovaldi and Happ are available free agents to consider.
I can't wait to hear the asking price for Keuchel. I also won't be shocked if we offer Sipp a one-year deal.

You can do a lot worse than a pretty healthy #3 pitcher with a mid-3 ERA. I'm not saying we should go out and offer him a 4-year $80 million deal, but we might find that filling his spot in the rotation is much more difficult than we realize.

You think he (and Boras) would take less than 4/$80?

I think Keuchel, and most of us if we were honest, will take the biggest amount of money he can get regardless of contract length. This is likely his best chance to get a huge payday as a player. He already has a mantle full of individual awards and a WS ring on his finger...I think now it's about getting paid. I think people will use the Arrieta and Cobb deals as a baseline. I think he's looking anywhere from a 2-year $40 million deal up to a 4-year $70 million deal.
I can't imagine him getting more than 4 years, but there are going to be some big spenders this offseason with some big name free agents. The teams that miss out on the superstars will be looking to get guys like Keuchel, I'd imagine. It won't be like last offseason.

I'm not happy to be rid of Dallas I don’t think anyone will be happy. I just was tired of hoping he’d return to the ‘15 Dallas. So with the issue with McCullers we have two pieces to a 5 man rotation. Add in McHugh as he is a proven starter in this league and we have a 1, 2, and a 5. So who is going to be our #3 and our #4 starter. James and Valdez looked good but they have no history and setting our sights on getting back to the WS for 2019 we have to have proven guys. We have to sign Morton or Keuchel and that should be priority #1 for the off season. We do not need both of them but we do need one of them. So get one and then let’s move to the next step of lineup reconfiguration.
