I think Morton likes it with the Astros and either re-signs with us or retires. I think he stays. If we don't at least try to sign Eovaldi, I think it is a mistake. We need a catcher.......I hope Luhnow makes a strong offer for Realmuto. I don't want to waste money on any free agent catcher.....I am not impressed with Lucroy or Grandal. The only one I would look at is Wilson Ramos.
I know Saint will applaud this........Maldonado is a finalist for a Gold Glove as is Bregman.

Look at Eovaldi’s performance prior to the last 3 months. If you think Dallas is bad, you ain’t seen nothing yet.

Rumors last year were that Miami was asking for Whitley AND Tucker in a trade for Realmuto.

Bregman has worked hard and made himself a good third baseman. He has come a long way.

I'd have to think about that one. No way. how close Stubbs is to being ready would enter into any trade discussion for Realmuto. If Stubbs is close, try to sign Ramos to a one-year deal to bridge the gap until Stubbs is ready. We sure can't start the season relying on Stassi as our regular catcher.

Keuchel has a good shot. Chapman will take it for 3B, if Maldonado wins it's because the writers are looking at 2017 and not 2018.

What about going for Grienke and Goldschmidt if the Diamondbacks can pay like 35million of Zack contract? Resign Marwin and Morton
Go hard after Realmuto.
Move Springer to RF.
Sign FA Evoldi, Miller and Murphy.
Lol dreams

If we sign Morton to a two year deal with a vesting option for a third then we will not have to do something stupid to land another starter to take Keuchel’s place. Verlander, Cole, Morton, McHugh, and either Valdez, James, Perez, Armenteros, or Peacock should do just fine. So long as we upgrade our catcher and get another 800 ops bat. Sign or Trade for a Catcher? Any hitters you would hope Luhnow would sign? If you sign one of the top 2 catchers then you can trade for a hitter.

Honestly though we could afford to sign Cruz and Ramos and keep our prospects.

I'm telling you.
Zack Grienke and Paul Goldschmidt with the Diamondbacks paying 35m of Grienkes contract.
Yuli J.B Devenski Peacock and two Minor Leaguers go the other way.
You help the Backs. And you open some spots on the roster. You could easily bring up Whitley and make some small Bullpen splashes like Andrew Miller and Zach Britton.

Realmuto, no question. More favorable contract scenario, more need for performance at the position.

Realmuto. Especially if they let him DH on his days off from catching.
