After last season, concerning injuries, we are definitely in our rights to be skeptical. I still believe we were not being mislead as much as they minimized the negative possibilities that injuries could be the cause of pain. In other words, they placed an optimistic spin on what was unknown or unknowable. I've noticed with injuries management says as little as possible, cause their view it's up to the player to fill in the details if he so chooses. I've no problem with that

I also disagree about the mandate around employing the shift. How about players become more disciplined at the plate and adjust their swings to beat defensive placement like they did in the old days. Dictating defensive positioning other than the pitcher and catcher is just plain bullpucky.

Frankie Tuesday suspended 80games for failing a PED test. The Astros have a drug problem in their minor league camps. First Paulino and now this dumbass. Yeah, there is a problem in the minor league camps.

Astros optioned Armenteros, Tucker, Whitley, Martin, Bielak, Bukauskas, De Goti back to the minors Anyone else surprised Tucker won't be on the opening day roster? I thought it was his time to start at the MLB level.

Just read an article where Bregman is mouthing off about being "unhappy" with the Astros position on a contract extension for him. Note to Bregman: Keep your damn shut, do your job, and you will be paid. Altuve worked dirt cheap before signing his extension and he kept his mouth shut and played. Bregman needs to do the same. So, we’re all in a consensus about this being annoying? I'm not consensing I agree with Bregman. I think he should be paid closer to what Kris Bryant got in his pre-arb raise since they both play 3B. Third base has been a black hole for the Astros over the last 25 years despite the occasional fluke. Bregman's breakout season was better stat-wise than Bryant's two seasons ago
Alex isn't greedy. I'm sure he would've been happy with $900K

Alex may have attempted to keep quiet, but his nonverbal comm demonstrated displeasure. That's probably when the interview began

Yeah, there is a problem in the minor league camps. last year I found a website that lists the PEDs suspensions for all 30 MLB organizations. I think the average was about 4 suspensions per organization per year and the Yankees were on the high end of the spectrum with about 7 suspensions a year. Chandler Rome said the drug Martes used is usually prescribed to help women ovulate. Not sure why Martes thought this would help him recover from TJS. Maybe he's in "gender reassignment" and just doesn't want to go public with it yet.

Reporters love to get a rise out of fans and should be regarded as the likely instigators in all scenarios until they clean up their track record. At least that's my opinion

For better or worse, his big ego is endearing himself to lots of young fans. It's actually not entirely bad for the team. I'm happy to forget about his personality/politics so long as he hits well and plays a solid third base.

Everyone was dressed in nice suits...except for Bregman, who was wearing a fecking checkered suit that looked like something Herb Tarlek would wear. He’s an idiot.

I watch Bull Durham every few months, and today I was struck with the fact that the idiot Bregman apparently did not have a "Crash Davis" in the minors to give a mentoring lesson on etiquette once you make it to the show. He is the antithesis of a class act.

There is an article mentioning that Brad Peacock has appeared to lock up the fifth spot in the rotation. At this point, I'd list him as the fourth starter with the struggles of McHugh and the young guns being sent down to MiLB camp. 1. Verlander 2. Cole 3. Miley 4. Peacock 5. Open - Bullpen
But there are still two weeks to change impressions.
Is Sneed still in camp? If so, he might be my lottery pick to make the rotation.

I'm pretty thrilled to see Peacock in the rotation (if that is what Hinch decides). I think he will do well there. In 2017 he went 13-2 with 3.00 era as a starter.

I believe there are teams to move on certain players who do stupid things.
I was never a fan of no strike zone Martes. Just like not a fan of Reed or Fisher.
But when you get cought using its kinda like why r you still on the team? I get if it was accedintal but wasnt this the 2nd time on Francis?

Tony Sipp signs with the Nationals. $1.25 million 1-year deal with a 2nd year option.

Yes, I am very aware of the previous shortcomings of Mr. Sipp (notice my earlier comment about Sipp hate), but though statistics can be misleading, he (1) posted very good numbers last year, and ate a lot of innings (2) got signed for <$3M for two years (little financial risk). At that price, I wished we had signed him. If he had backslid, we could have shipped him back to Fresno. IF he repeated 2018, we'd have a sound middle reliever. In any case, we'll see how he does elsewhere.

Like with most relievers, fans remember the blow-ups and not the overall effectiveness (look at Poor Devenski and Harris and how good they've actually really been for us the bulk of the time). On the surface, $1.5 million for him seems like something we should/could have done, but, if we think these young guys are mostly ready, there wasn't really a spot for him. The odds of him out-producing Cionel Perez are slim.
