I've learned not to question Luhnow's judgement when it comes to possible diamonds in the rough. If he claims this dud while not trying to re-sign Morton, I have to wonder if he is thinking clearly.

The guy who should be worried since Luhnow claimed Chris Hermann is Max Stassi......this could mean that we are finally letting this career minor leaguer go.

Astros.com is saying the Astros could look at Salvador Perez as a trade option. We hadn't even discussed that as a possibility. It probably is a feasible trade option with the Royals looking to get younger, and Perez still a pretty strong performer with a couple extra years of control with his current contract. The OBP isn't strong, but there's no arguing about his solid-good AVG and power, durability, and strong defense. I’ve thought for the last couple seasons that the Astros and Royals would match up well for a trade. Luhnow and Moore have made deals before. KC needs to rebuild and the Astros have plenty quality prospects to deal. He is controlled through 2021. You’re right about the defense. He threw out 25 of 52 runners attempting to steal this season. Would be a great addition to the team, I think. Perez/Stubbs would be a nice duo at catcher. Perez was on the dugout step with Hinch and Springer when Bregman hit his homer in the All-Star Game. Poor guy hasn't had much to celebrate lately. He'd be a great fit here

Just saw this on Astros.com:
“Salvador Perez The rebuilding Royals could trade the veteran Perez, a six-time All-Star and four-time Gold Glove Award winner who was the World Series Most Valuable Player in 2015. This would be a wildly popular move with the pitching staff and All-Star second baseman Jose Altuve, who grew up playing with Perez in Venezuela. They were born four days apart.”
Checked out Chris Herrman’s stats. Prior to this season he has consistently thrown out a higher percentage of runners attempting to steal than league average. He only threw out 22% this season...league average was 29%..., but that could have been due to the pitchers not holding runners well. I like that he is capable of playing 1B and outfield too. His acquisition could indicate that Luhnow would trade Stubbs in the right deal.

Ramos can't stay healthy. Would rather have Perez. If Luhnow can him and Goldschmidt, oh my. I think they have a better than 50% shot at re-signing Keuchel. Possibly Morton as well. If not, I'd slide McHugh into one of the slots.

On another note........Bregman is about to be the guest picker on College Gameday. Since it's the off-season, surely he won't put his foot in his mouth.

Luhnow appears to be betting Morton's not going to be healthy next year Do you think this increases the likelihood that Luhnow signs Eovaldi? Jeff seems at least to be masking confidence that all those innings Morton, Keuchel and McCullers pitched are going to come from somewhere. I guess with how good the minor league pitching is it's debatable. I hope JL has a plan that includes at least one trade or FA acquisition despite

Everybody leave Nathan alone. He held fast on the pipe dream of Luhnow getting Verlander, and he’s a fantasy sports champion. Not the champion Drayton talks about but a real one.

I will second that, how many times has Luhnow done something that we all say, where did that come from. Maybe not from the same place that voodoo comes up with it but they are both out of the box and out of the box is where most of the good ideas come from.

I am of the opinion that Luhnow will go out after someone who can be controlled for 2 years or more. In looking at possibilities nothing made sense except deGrom and no way we go for him.

I would love to get Realmuto, but, I'm afraid we would have to give up too much. If we plan on letting both Keuchel and Morton go, Luhnow has to be after Eovaldi or another starter.

There’s an article on MLB.com suggesting that the Phillies should go after both Machado and Harper in FA this offseason. Hey..., if they sign those two, they should go ahead and sign Carlos Gomez too. That trifecta would put them close to the Yankees in the race for most hated team in baseball.
Speaking of Gumpez..., I just watched the video of McCann confronting him up the third baseline from home plate after Gump showed his arse while circling the bases on a home run against the Braves. As always, Gomez had plenty time to take a swing at Mac before help arrived, but as always he just ran his mouth until his teammates got between him and his adversary. Then; of course, his courage kicked in and he started trying to break free to get to McCann. I have never seen Gomez throw a punch when he was confronted one-on-one with another player. He is the very definition of punk.

Bryce Harper could be considered the white clone of Reggie Jackson back when he said he was "the straw that stirree the drink" as an insult to the late Thurman Munson/
