Looking at the individual stats, it's tough to argue Goldschmidt wouldn't have been the perfect addition to the lineup. It'd be interesting to know what Luhnow offered if we were in on that What do you then do about Gurriel? Also, they likely don’t get Brantley in the process. |

Ideally, one would like to upgrade each position that needs one. Right now first base is the only position where the production we're getting is below league average I’ve come to the decision that Gurriel should be the one sacrificing playing time for Alvarez. My mother would be calling you guys all kinds of foul names. She hated Cubans. Haha so do my in-laws. My Dealing with Cubans and I have dealt with more than most here probably have been Above Board. They know what it's like to be Socialism to the max. Property stolen, enslaved and starved etc. As opposed to my dealing with Mexicans (wet) etc and Yes I have dealt with plenty of them. Once again it's the Younger Generation that is clueless. |

I haven’t criticized Hinch much for his lineups this season as opposed to last, but Marisnick has no business being in the lineup against righties or on consecutive days. Like Tim says, I can’t think of a worse scenario than a long inning with our SP getting his arm cold, the bases loaded, and Marisnick at the plate. It’s masochism to have him in the lineup.
It’s almost as bad as Ausmus-Everett-pitcher as your 7-8-9.

I will continue to defend Everett's place in the lineup because his defense was so good. His runs saved above average was significantly higher than his runs created was below average leaving a net positive. Marisnick is similar though with less extreme variation above and below average. (I know it's hard to believe)
ps I'm only considering his value between 2003 -2006 when he was with the Astros. He lost a step after his injury which resulted in a drastic reduction to his defensive value to almost average.
