I'll continue to say this: if White, Stassi, and Jake are our biggest holes to complain about, we're doing pretty well.
I'm just happy to see Devo and Harris quieting people again.

I'll continue to say this: if White, Stassi, and Jake are our biggest holes to complain about, we're doing pretty well. I'm just happy to see Devo and Harris quieting people again. Agreed. I think Stassi is a solid backup catcher. I still think a platoon of Stubbs and Stassi at catcher next season will be fine. Both are good defensive catchers who frame and throw well. They both hit well enough. There really aren’t many Johnny Bench-type catchers in the game anymore. Regardless of what they do for the rest of this season, I don’t think either Marisnick or White will be around next year. I think Straw will replace Jake. Alvarez should make White expendable. Then there is Tucker. If he gets himself straightened out he should be ready. I’m hoping Luhnow can work out a long-term deal with Springer. He is so valuable to the team. Would also like to see McHugh signed to a multi-year deal. I think Boras peddles Cole to the Yankees this offseason. |

Stassi and Jake are lesser problems because they don’t have everyday jobs. You hear all this “Great White Shark” nonsense with our DH, and he hasn’t had an RBI or home run in about 20 games. |

It doesn’t add up to me. At that low line drive velocity, how does the ball bounce that way without hitting something other than the padded wall? I don't know if you were watching the game on the tube, when they showed the area of where the ball it right after the play, they people that were sitting in that area looked like they had drinks and glasses in the area. There was some kind of bar that ran parallel to the top of the wall. Did you see the HR Jose hit in the last home series, it hit some kind of bar and bounced back into play, he was given the HR.
the people in the bar area were laughing like they knew it was a HR and they were tickled that the umpires got it wrong. looked to me like the ball hit the rail or a table and bounced back onto the field. |

In fairness, if it wasn’t acceptable for Carlos Lee to be a statue in LF, it’s not acceptable for Jake not to hit. Since the value of hitting is more than defense, Jake’s play is less acceptable than for Lee. |
