18-13 1 game up in the West. 1.5 games back for the AL overall. 2nd in AL run differential at +34 Team OPS+: 119 Team ERA+: 127
Peacock vs. Berrios
Early game today against a tough pitcher.... I'm not expecting much, but hopefully we'll be surprised. With yesterday's games the Twins are now the best team in the AL. Very surprising. With the injury to Kluber though, the Central division may not be there's this year if Minnesota stays hot and keeps over achieving.
I expect an Altuve or Bregman day off today. Chirinos and Reddick will both be back in there. Might be a Kemp day. If we win this game we tie the series on the road against the best team in the AL. That's not a bad way to end a series.

The Twins will settle down. All I’ve gathered from the Astros’ games with them is that they can’t hit Odorizzi or with RISP so far this season. They’re very slowly improving, though. Brantley and Reddick have been pleasant surprises, and Correa is also getting better. He just needs to be a little more clutch, and Altuve needs to remember that it’s okay to get hits to right field. Bregman hasn’t been Bregman since the ALDS, but he’s slowly coming back. It’s all good.

It’s all good. I think we just need to accept the fact that Altuve will always be a pull hitter. That's fine when he is ahead in the count. I just want him to get back to focusing on just making contact when he gets behind in counts rather than trying to yack outside pitches down the left field line. And he needs to work on his bunts up the first base line when they shift on him. He should be able to beat a shift with a bunt 75+% of the time.

I just don’t get why he needs to contort himself to whiff on the down and out pitch. If he’s fouling them, fine, but that’s happening less and less as he’s adapted to being a power hitter. Plus, he stands so far off the plate, and he doesn’t have the longest arms to reach for those pitches. As far as the bunting down the first base line, I think he definitely should against lefties. I’m not sure how successful he can be against righties that fall toward first base on pitches.

I know he has good power for his size, but bunting should be a more frequent weapon of his, especially when we need to move runners anyways or if they're shifting on him a lot.

I don't understand why Springer needs to DH so often. This will be his 7th game DHing already this year when he is a plus defender and has no injury issues. If anybody should DH out of the regulars it should be Altuve, Gurriel, or Brantley to keep them rested and healthy.

I’ve never disagreed with that. In fact, I think it’s a skill every player should learn.

Good to see Bregman finally get one over the fence. He came up short often yesterday.

If you hit the ball in the air to CF, you might as well just walk back to the dugout. Buxton owns that whole outfield.

Couldn’t you have bunted them up a base Jose?

And there is a big reason why we're struggling to be consistent offensively. Altuve and Bregman have to do better in those situations.

Man, they should start being more aggressive with steals because the struggles start as soon as a runner touches 2nd base.

Couldn’t you have bunted them up a base Jose? I don’t get why bunting is so taboo. A bunt would've resulted in a run.

Pathetic. The runners just stand there waiting for something. I don’t get why they don’t force the issue on the bases. How many times do we see them whiff their way into a scoreless inning?
