29-15 1st in the division (8 games) 1st in the league (.5 games) 1st in MLB (.5 games) 1st in run differential (+87) .659 winning percentage (On pace for 106 Wins) Team OPS+: 131 Team ERA+: 123
Cole vs. Porcello
Cole is going to need to be on as Boston has gotten just as hot as us lately. Hopefully the offense will keep rolling against Porcello and his 5.00+ ERA. Boston is 8-2 in their last 10 games.

I like our pitchers more these first 2 games. Sale on Sunday will be tough.

Sale has definitely started looking better. 17 Ks in his last outing. But, we've gotten to him pretty well in the past. It would have been fun to see a Sale vs. Verlander matchup.

The Mets are calling up Carlos Gomez now that Conforto is out of action for a while. Unfortunately, the Astros don't play the Mets this year.

Cole is currently on pace for 317 Ks. That would be the most since Randy Johnson in 2002 when he had 334 (and 372 the year prior).
However his k/9 IP is an even more impressive 13.9. The single season record is 13.2 by Pedro Martinez. If he gets even close to that record you can be damn sure he's going to make a fortune as a free agent.

He has a 1.91 ERA over his last 5 starts including a .157 BAA and 59 Ks in 33 IP. That includes 41 strikeouts and only 3 ER allowed in his last three games.

My dream is for us to pull off a triple steal against Sale.

I am still holding out hope that Astros trade for Bumgarner, adding him should just make the Astros virtually impossible to beat in the playoffs. Plus, when the off-season comes, it just increases the Astros chances of retaining a top end starter, whether it be Cole or Bumgarner, because they like playing for the Astros so much, team camaraderie.

I would not mind if we offered Cionel Perez, Myles Straw and Bryan Abreu for Bumgarner if he signs an extension.
