Maybe Carlos Lee in his later years. Carlos Gomez. Although as fans, we all have amnesia about him being an Astro.

I can’t picture disliking a player more than Gomez.

I can’t picture disliking a player more than Gomez. I tried to give Gomez the benefit of the doubt but he was too much of a showboat.

Giles is an extremely close second. I always disliked Brett Wallace. He never seemed like a ahole or anything, but he just couldn't put it together and he always looked like he could care less. Back about 35 years ago, Omar Moreno was a swift, base stealing, good hitting star, who tailed off into a serious mid season slump. Frustration got to him, and he started insulting the team, management, other players, and Houston in general. The loudest boos I ever heard in the Astrodome were during his at bats before being traded. He was utterly hated here, much more than Giles, Gomez, or anyone else I can remember on the team.

I don't think I have ever heard of him to be honest. If it was 35 years ago then it was before my time. Good outing by Perez!

Ray Knight had a good year in '82, but he wasn't liked mainly cause we traded Cesar Cedeno for him

Nice job by Perez tonight. The bullpen really needed that.

I can't remember a more disliked player on the team than Tyler White. Gomez and Giles would run him a close race. I literally despised Gomez and still do and would actually keep White over him.

Especially since they "never do that" Everyone goes with a full count and two outs. Pettis does deserve credit for trying to end the madness ASAP.

I don't think Yuli ever touched home plate. At least I never saw an angle where he wasn't blocked off the plate. Fortunately, the catcher never tagged the runner either before the play was dead and the runner was called safe. I guess the call stood, even though the play wasn't ever really over when the play was ruled over. If the bases had been loaded, Yuli would have been out after the catcher regained control because he was on the plate. But it wasn't a force play so a tag was needed.
That was a really weird play and call.

The angles we saw never showed evidence of him touching the plate. I guess the umpire ruling him safe officially ended the play??? Now the play is ended and the challenge happens. The officials had to have seen that he never touched the plate, but at the same time he was never tagged out. How the hell do you rule that? He’s not safe because he didn’t touch the plate and he’s not out because he wasn’t tagged. Hopefully Yuli touched the plate sometime during the celebration.
