Is Keuchel the new Fiers? This looks like the first game this season that Dallas is actually hitting his spots.

Straw has 4 hits tonight down in Corpus. Hitting close to 400 now.

In an ironic way, it must be kind of encouraging for Straw/White/Tucker and other guys in the minors when the major league team struggles. They know what that means... job openings.

Springer with a single. He seems to be starting to heat up a bit.

I think our offense won't start hitting it's stride until Bregman starts hitting consistently. He is hitting it hard but just at fielders.

That call right there was probably the difference between Paxton coming out for the 6th or the Mariners going to their pen early.

Crud. I think he was safe but there wasn't enough evidence to over turn it.

I think our offense won't start hitting it's stride until Bregman starts hitting consistently. He is hitting it hard but just at fielders. As long as it's BABIP-dragon type stuff that is holding him back, it doesn't bother me because that never continues for very long. It's the guys who are showing reduced hand-eye coordination, bad pitch recognition, and reduced power over long stretches of time (several months to a few years) who give me cause to think they won't get better.

Kuechel looking not so terrible tonight. Need some runs.
Seems like we say that a lot here lately

Who are you taking about? Bregman is the guy having BABIP trouble but solid underlying batting stats like pitch recognition. Guys with reduced power and pitch recognition include Gonzalez and Gattis and Marisnick.

And unfortunately, Jake Marisnick will still be committing outright theft by drawing an MLB salary. I’m just about there with you.

Yuli is really getting BABIP'd to hard these past few games. A few of those long fly balls find green grass and the Astros may well have one or two more wins to their credit. Tough luck, but it will even out.
