laurels from the national media upon our crown are more frequent since we became the gold-standard of baseball organizations, but some would disagree just to finish that point

Astros fans have a long history of being perpetually butt-hurt. For evidence, see the frequent complaints about how the sports media "hates us". ***** PREACH

So full of himself. Never seen another person who loved to listen to his own voice ramble the way he did. The man never knew when to shut up. It got to the point that when I was listening to a game on the radio and they passed the mike off to him I would cut the radio off.

Never seen another person who loved to listen to his own voice ramble the way he did. The man never knew when to shut up. It got to the point that when I was listening to a game on the radio and they passed the mike off to him I would cut the radio off. There are many reasons I despised him, and I don't care if he's dead. (1) Manner and way he displaced The "REAL" voice of the Astros Gene Elston. (2) How he treated his 1st color side kick, Dave Hofferth(?). Hamilton walked all over, interuputed, and many ways embarrassed and sabotaged this guys chance in the booth. (3) His disgusting treatment of women would get him fired with almost any employer. He took his dirty old man schtik, and a made an act out of it. How the team kept allowing him to drool over these ladies is still a mystery to me. (4) His insistence to be introduced, and even have his radio intro. blaring his HOF broadcaster status. What a f'n tool. (5) As you said his incessant rambling, blotching, and overall incompetence in the booth. His really only claim to fame (IMO) was being lucky enough to call Aaron's 715th homer. Too bad Vin Scully didn't make that call.

The man was totally self-absorbed. Calling baseball games was just a way to draw attention to himself.

I hope they keep the class sizes small. They needed a “catch up” class to install enough voters. I don’t want to see aHOF turn into a joke where “this guy was good for 2 years so let him in”. For instance, I loved Moises Alou, but I wouldn’t ever think of him as a HOF Astro. There should be a minimum # seasons spent in an Astro uni to qualify. Bob Aspromonte was an Astro/Colt-45 for 7 years. Probably shouldn't admit anyone with less than that totalBilly Wagner? 9 years with Houston. 225 saves, .253 ERA, 16.1 WAR

Here is a guy for HOF consideration that a lot of the folks on the board probably never saw play. Bill Doran. He played 9 years for the Astros and posted a 30.5 WAR over those 9 years. For comparison, Joe Morgan played 10 years for the Astros and posted a 30.7 WAR over those 10 years. We are talking about the ASTROS HOF now so I would think that a player’s accomplishments as an Astro should be what determines whether or not he makes the Astros’ HOF. Morgan is in. So do you think Doran is Astros HOF worthy?

Bill Doran was without a doubt the best glove man the Astros have ever had at 2B.

There should be a place for HoF worthy moments/seasons by players without sufficient creds to be HOF for a career. There is always a bias toward those players for undeserved induction because of those moments/seasons. AKA Carlos Beltran. Dickie Thon, Randy Johnson, Roger Clemens.
My minimum would be 7 seasons and 15 WAR and not everyone with the minimum should make it.

I agree. Would you consider Bob Lillis to be Astros HOF worthy? His numbers as a player were nothing to write home about... he was already 32 years old when he became one of the original Colt 45s in 1962..., but he spent 24 consecutive years with the organization as a player (6 years), manager (3+ years), scout and player development (5 years) and coach (11 years). Would you think that his longevity in the organization and the fact that he survived/persevered through the early years (surviving the Spec Richardson era should earn him a lot of points) would make him Astros HOF worthy?

Wagner, Berkman, Oswalt for sure.
Doarn and Davis aren't bad choices.
edit: Sambito?

Lillis if anything should get credit for helping extend Ryan's career past age 40 by way of managing his workload in the 80s
