The Stromfather isn't an old man in a baseball uniform so much as a pitching philosophy/strategy that results in striking out a shitload of batters. All of a sudden the franchise is shattering records with the punchout
It was a bunch of our instructors at the minor levels who came up with the nickname, and made T-shirts out of it. The name's gonna stick after the guy's not active in baseball anymore, and even at this capacity Strom probably has his own staff doing the all the instructing

One pitch, one man in scoring position. When Rondon is pitching the guy at the plate is in scoring position

Chapman had no shot. He saw the ball into the fielders glove before he took off too

You guys are the bad luck been here all night and no runs. Like last night you let the pitching give up the winning runs and making excuses.

This game is lasting so long I had to open up a second bottle of wine.

Hopefully Hinch realizes that he should NEVER take Alvarez out of the game late in a tie game, especially when there are 2 outs and Correa is next.

Smart move for them to walk Yuli for Chirinos. Bottom of the 13th coming with game still tied

Wake up to another loss. I need to stay away from this team right now.

I see the offense just waited for Oakland to score. Poor pitchers.

Couldn't stay up late enough to see the end, and glad I didn't. MY thoughts in the direct bullet points....... * Instead of giving the ALW deathblow to the A's this weekend, we're giving them f'n hope. I think this team believed the stinking press' reviews that they were unbeatable, but forgot that the game is not played on paper. * AJ and Luhnow needs to figure out how to breathe some life back into this beast that should beat any non-Yankee, Dodger team by 5+ runs on any given night. * The night of the trade deadline, even in all our elation, I cautioned against complacency. Damn it Astros.... please prove me wrong.

I just looked at Reddick’s stats on mlb.com. He is batting below .200 for his last 7, 15 and 30 games. I seriously doubt that Hinch will do this, but if Reddick continues like this until September 1st, I would plug Tucker into RF and let him play. He couldn’t do any worse.

They need to get back to whatever it is they did up until Osuna blew it in Baltimore, or things will get a little scary.

I’m sorry I know the fans love doing their little Ric Flair noises and all, but it’s not enough for Reddick to maintain a hold on his starting job. Call up Tucker. They’ve got nothing to lose. They give away outs at the catcher position. They can ill afford to give away outs from another otherwise Marisnick would be starting in CF.

On the plus side, our bullpen really did an excellent job for a change.
Losing that game and then playing early today is a shame. This continues to be a brutal road trip.

Just a little rough patch. That's all. When the dust settles we will still be standing tall. Go Stros!

Our offense has become one of the home run or nothing....we don't bunt, hit and run, advance base runners.........all the little things that win games especially the close ones. Altuve and Reddick are killing this team. Correa looks like an MVP one night and a AAA guy th next. Yuli battiing 7th is keeping him from getting anything to hit or getting intentional walks because we have two automatic outs coming up next. I agree with olpapa that we started celebrating at the trade deadline. We looked fantastic for a few games and have proceeded to suck ever since. We blow what should have been a sure win to the Orioles and then suck in Chicago. Now, we blow two one-run games to the A's at a time we had a chance to bury them. Where is the killer instinct we should have? it isn't there. Certain guys get a "day off" that isn't needed while some who need a break are kept in the lineup and kill our chances to win. It is time for somebody in that clubhouse to assume some leadership and try to get this crap corrected. We are giving the A's the chance they need.......We could have knocked them out but instead we play with complacency and hand them two games and I don't predict much better results today due to the pitching matchup.

Since we don't have any top ready arms that will make a big difference...I am for Tucker, Straw and then X pitcher....
