I just looked at Reddick’s stats on mlb.com. He is batting below .200 for his last 7, 15 and 30 games. I seriously doubt that Hinch will do this, but if Reddick continues like this until September 1st, I would plug Tucker into RF and let him play. He couldn’t do any worse. I would make that decision before the deadline to call up players eligible for post season. If I understand the MLB Playoff Eligibility rules as they are now written, any minor leaguer who is in the Astros organization on August 31 is eligible to be on a playoff roster so long as he remains with the organization through the beginning of the playoff series for which he is assigned to the playoff roster: “(a) PLAYERS ELIGIBLE. (1) Major League Roster Players. To be eligible to play for a Major League Club in a Wild Card Game, Division Series, League Championship Series, or the World Series, a player must (A) have been on a Major League Active, Disabled, Bereavement / Family Medical Emergency, Paternity, Suspended or Military List of such Major League Club as of Midnight Eastern Time on August 31, or on such date be under control, but on optional assignment, or on assignment from another Major League organization and not yet reported; and (B) have remained reserved to such Major League Club (at the Major or Minor League levels) through the beginning of the applicable post-season series, unless the player is replacing an injured player pursuant to Rule 40(a)(3).”
