Because our bullpen was even worse than it is now in 2017 when we won the WS by using our starters as relievers. Luhnow tried to plug the hole with successful veterans. And even though they haven't been amazing, they've certainly been solid, albeit a little expensive and not as good as we wanted. Good ole Lance. Dang that run was fun. I keep forgetting what a healthy Lance McCullers would mean to this team......We get him back next year.

Yeah, and even if he was great, I don't see how we can expect more than 15-20 starts like always.

I never liked Smith. I don't understand why he and Rondon are on our roster. Because our bullpen was even worse than it is now in 2017 when we won the WS by using our starters as relievers. Luhnow tried to plug the hole with successful veterans. And even though they haven't been amazing, they've certainly been solid, albeit a little expensive and not as good as we wanted. Peacock and Morton were so money out of the bullpen. Man, the relievers were so bad. Mr. Face Puncher was always racing to three outs before a run could score and generally lost.

Yeah, and even if he was great, I don't see how we can expect more than 15-20 starts like always. 20 would probably be the max. I think they will be careful with him.........in the long run, I think he could be a lights-out closer,. but,l don't expect that to happen.

If they want to maximize what they can get out of him, I think he needs to be reliever. Or get 5-6 good starts out of him once he comes back and trade him while his value is high.

LOL LOL Why would you trade him if he is healthy? You always preach on cost and who is under team control yet you would trade McCullers.....bad move.

Didn't see this James post....I asked the same about him this morning on Season Chatter thread....JJ has the stuff to be a difference makers....it would be a huge boost to the pen if he can comeback and pitch to his ability....a crafty Peacock would be a big plus as well... Then hope you find luck and not misfortune out of: McHugh (long inning relief or bust) Devo (has good stuff but not good execution) Harris (scares me despite his good stats) Smith (really don't know much about him) Biagini (same) Ohhh, and on Rondon, NFW. Isn't Biagini in the minors? Yes, maybe temporary, he had options...we have until September's end to figure out the playoff bullpen.

Biagini got lit up for 5 ER in 2/3 IP in his first appearance for Round Rock last night.

If I thought he could stay healthy I'd be all about it. I don't think he can. Unless they keep him a reliever.

He never looked totally comfortable on the mound. He was always huffing and puffing.

I wouldn't mind using him as an opener though. It worked in Game 7
