Clay Buchholz (0-3 5.87) vs Framber VAldez (4-6 5.14)
Battle of the high ERA: One guy is coming off a very good start while the other guy faces a team that seems to have issues with starting pitchers with high ERAs
Astros are first place in the league right now (tie breaker over the Wanks)

As of the loss by LAD, we also have Home field throughout the playoffs. Tie breaker over NYY and half game lead over LAD.
Let's KEEP IT!

Just for S & G's, I checked, and we will probably win tie-breaker status for home field if it comes down to if we and the LAD have the same record, and we both make it to WS. 1st tie breaker Head to Head..... Houston does not play LAD in the regular season in 2019 2nd tie breaker- Intradivisonal record. Dodgers are 38-21 against their NL West rivals, versus the Astros who are 42-15 against our AL West competitors. That's a 5 game lead on the tie-breaker with a month to go.

It would be nice to get at least five innings out if Framber...

Things like Framber pitching always seems to happen when the Astros are on top.

I just saw the highlight of Vlad Jr. getting ejected. Who does he think he is acting like that?

I just saw the highlight of Vlad Jr. getting ejected. Who does he think he is acting like that? In relation to making sure he stays in the eyes of the BBWA for ROY vote....... "There is no such thing as bad publicity......" P.T. Barnum, circa 1873.

So, I guess we can write off both Peacock and McHugh.

With all of these pitchers going on the IL, maybe their conditioning program needs to be analyzed.

I'm sure the "Stromfather" will fix everything. They wouldn't have had the pitching we have had if not for Strom.........examples: Morton and Cole. I pin some of the blame on these guys being coddled to the point their conditioning suffers

Brantley seems to be getting a lot of "days off" for some reason.

I'm sure he contributes, but we've had plenty of guys not succeed with him as the pitching coach.

Brantley seems to be getting a lot of "days off" for some reason. He's had a lot of health issues and he's over 30. Good to keep him fresh for the postseason.

So,even though Morton, Cole., and Verlander give Strom a lot of credit for their success, you don't think he is a big reason for our pitching being good. LOL LOL I expected you to agree with coddling them which shows you don't put much value in proper conditioning. All we her today is pitch counts.....Some guy throws 15-20 pitches a couple of days in a row and he's "down"for two days. Nolan Ryan and the pitchers in his day never thought of pitch counts and they didn't go on the injured list everytime they got sore. "Pitch counts"is a very over-valued term.

Here is an interesting tidbit. There are only three Teams in the AL with a Record against teams over.500. Houston, NY, Oakland 9,9,8. Respectively.
While in the NL they have a few more and a couple are even in contention for the Playoffs yet.

I also find it interesting that Houston and LA are the only two teams with Runs differential over 200 and in the American the nearest is Min. 40 behind Houston
Nice to have an offense scoring a lot of Runs to help the Pitching not be paranoid of allowing a run or two which I think makes them more relax and Pitch better.

There are some really bad teams in MLB, one reason attendance is down a million.
Look at Detroit....17-47 at home!

Making Clay throw a lot of pitches early is a good thing.
