I am a fan of Trout and admire him for sticking with the Angels even though I can't see them winning a title. My point is.....in my opinion....the MVP should come from a team that wins because of the player's production. Trout could hit 75 home runs and drive in 175 runs and the Angels would still not make the playoffs. Bregman is the most productive hitter on the team who will win the division and is a good bet to go to the WS and win it. So that makes it a team award then? somewhat. On the broadcast tonight, Kalas and Blum indicated the MVP should come from the winning team..It just makes sense that Bregman should get the award over a guy whose team is 28 games back.

I believe they said that if it was a close decision, the winning team should factor in. They didn't see the MVP had to come from a winning team. It is not a team award.

The team award is the World Series trophy.

I understand the argument for Bregman because of team success, but I can also picture Kalas and Blum championing his MVP if we were a last place team as well.

TK and Blum as homers, as they should be. For proof, listen to the great things they say about Jork when everyone except Corch knows he's a pitiful excuse for a baseball player.

There is a case to be made for Bregman. It's just not quite as strong as it is for Trout right now.

Only those with little baseball knowledge refers to a gold glove caliber outfelder as a "pitiful excuse for a baseball player", especially when his teammates and manager all recognize his value to the team. True, he isn't a dumbass but he's still a valuable asset. Another negative for Trout is his tendency to exhibit the Correa Syndrome........too much time missed due to injuries. Trout gets more time off in one season than Bregman has had in his career.

And this year, so far, he has only played in 7 less games than Bregman. Yet, still has better totals even with less support on his team. That's not an argument in Bregman's favor.

I think San Diego could make a big play for him. And I think he would be interested. That is true, he is a CA guy. But to know their tax policy is to loath it...

Maybe everyone would show him more love if he was the team dumbass but a more consistent hitter.

Maybe if Jake won an MVP or a few batting titles we can properly revisit this discussion.

I certainly am NOT implying that Jake is the equal of Altuve as a player, I'm pointing out that those who love to bash Jake normally ignore all the bonehead, dumbasss stunts Altuve pulls that kills innings and loses games. Winning an MVP in 2017 does not excuse that.

Defend the MVP-caliber perennial all star, or defend the loser who can’t play well enough to earn a position?
Everyone else: defend the all star Corch: defend the loser and label the all star a “dumbass”
That sums it up.
