That's 3 Rookie of the Month Awards for Alvarez in his first 3 months in the league. That should win him the ROY award hands down

a no-hitter in September is giving this season a 1981/1986 feel to it Those years were fun, but anything less than a WS win this year will be considered a team failure.

Maybe, but there's similarities. Stellar starting pitching I'm fairly confident will show up in October. The question is the bats Also, both Sambito and Smith struggled at the end of those seasons, not unlike Osuna at the moment

Without looking it up I cannot remember the righty in the pen that complimented Sambito. They made a good combination.

They'll be like "remember on May 5, 1971, when Joe Schmoe was up to bat and Jose Jalapeno threw him a slider to the back side of the plate in the 5th inning? That was really a turning point in that game!" Meanwhile, I'm over here thinking "Was there a game yesterday? Who did we play?"

Gotta love relieversStill think of that Philly series. Playing Monday Morning quarterback, if the Stros didn't get swept in the three game series in LA and have to go to the one game playoff, forcing Joe to pitch, it they would have taken down the fightin Phils.

We rode Ryan and Sutton post-strike into a 5-game playoff with the Dodgers to determine the division crown

You're doing too much schooling. That ain't no shit. I'm too old for this mess. Yeah, I'm debating about going back to school for a BSN. Working full-time and going to school full-time the first go around beat the crap out of me and I'm a decade older with kid(s) now. And you're like 40 years older than me so i can only imagine.

Fair warning: BSN is considered by many to be the most difficult 4-year degree. Prepare your loins for some hard work, lots of frustration, and no sleep. I got my ADN at age 41, and even that was no joke.

Saint I'm also working 50 hours a week (M-F) while completing this Master's program. And we have 4 grandkids we're raising (7-9-12-13, with one special needs). So, work+school+kids is possible, if you apply yourself. Not easy, by any means. I'm perpetually exhausted. Plus I babysit all of you guys.

Talking to some health administrators, supposedly I can get it sped up some with past credits. We'll see.

Life is like climbing a greased pole. You're either struggling to climb or you're slipping back. You aren't sitting still. Of course, when you make enough moolah to retire the rules change.

I still don't think it will happen, but Bregman is actually starting to get close to Trout for the MVP race. The one thing Trout had over everybody else was his WAR, but that lead has dwindled and he has some sort of toe issue.
Bregman:
35 HR 103 RBI 111 Runs 34 Doubles 150 Hits 5 SB .299/.418/.584 1.002 OPS 161 OPS+ 7.4 WAR
Trout:
45 HR 104 RBI 110 Runs 27 Doubles 137 Hits 11 SB .291/.438/.645 1.083 OPS 183 OPS+ 8.1 WAR
Obviously Trout still has superior offensive numbers, but not as much as he once did. Plus, Bregman deserves a little bit of extra consideration when you look at how he is playing two different positions. With 17 games to go, there's a chance.

They're not going to give it to Bregman even if he finishes with a line of .320/50/125 because no coastal writer is going to give a middle America team the CY, ROY AND MVP.
