I am not a big Smith fan. Why so? 6-1 70 IP 3.06 ERA (142 ERA+) .991 WHIP over two seasons with us. edit: And in limited appearances he has been great in the postseason so far for his career.

I hadn't realized Toro had 4 hits in his last 29 plate appearances. Probably a good thing he was left off

Miley made it. No Devo, no Toro. Straw & Tucker made it! I see Peacock is missing. I wonder if he had a set back.. Miley is a wasted spot although I expected him to be "rewarded" for doing a good job until he caved in down the stretch,. I wish we had kept Abreu instead of Miley, Smith, or Rondon The rest of the roster I predicted, but, I wish we had room for a third catcher.

The thing to like is that he is dominant against righties (especially this year so far), and he has a history of being a Yankee-killer (.391 OPS against.) And he's also fantastic at Tropicana Field (14 IP 1.29 ERA 5.09 OPS against).

Peacock must not be ready. I'm guessing they're hoping that Miley could be useful in an extreme lefty situations or in mop-up duty to eat innings and save the better relievers.

I double checked and Urquidy is on the roster so any of Miley, Urquidy or even JV on 3 days rest could start a game 4 depending on the situation. To reach a game 4, we'd either have to be leading 2-1 in which case Miley or Urquidy would be likely. If we're facing elimination down 1-2, I can't imagine JV not getting the start. The worst that could happen assuming we won is Greinke starting the ALCS.

Regarding Peacock: Peacock returned from a shoulder injury in late September, allowing three runs in three innings over the final eight days of the season. The Astros don't feel that he's fully up to speed, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports, so he'll throw live batting practice during the ALDS in hopes of making the ALCS roster, should the Astros reach that round. link

What has he done in bis last 5 starts to prove he wouldn't be hammered before we got him out of the game?

I knew Miley would be there but surprised it was at the expense of Peacock. I guess Urquidy impressed them that much.
Hitters: Springer Altuve Bregman Brantley Alvarez Gurriel Correa Chironos Reddick Maldonado Diaz Marisnick Straw

Miley is not a wasted spot on the roster. Regarding Peacock: linkSo you think we needed Miley on the roster.........why? What has he done in bis last 5 starts to prove he wouldn't be hammered before we got him out of the game? Don't tell me what I think. That's an dick move. I said (and think) Miley is not a wasted spot. There are definitely players on the roster who are 'needed'. Verlander, Cole, Bregman, Osuna, etc. Other players aren't so much 'needed' but they aren't a 'waste' of a roster spot, either. Players like Miley, Smith, and of course Jork who's hitting a buck fifty with a whopping .440 OPS in his 5 most recent games. Nobody 'needs' a shit OPS like that but still, Jork isn't a complete waste of a roster spot. Will Miley even start a game? Unknown. He might be used as a reliever in a situational matchup, lefty-on-lefty. And he's only a 'waste' of a roster spot if there's someone highly deserving who should be on the roster and isn't because he's taking the spot. So who do YOU think is deserving of a spot on the roster and isn't there because Miley is on the roster?(Hint: Peacock is not an acceptable answer.)

I would have left him off the roster and gone with Bryan Abreu, who was outstanding when used and has swing and miss stuff. Abreu deseerved the spot. Peacock must not be ready or he would be there. Don't be surprised if he's added for the ALCS.

Peacock must not be ready or he would be there. Brilliant deduction, Sherlock. Click the link I provided in my previous reply to see why. Don't be surprised if he's added for the ALCS. I'm quite sure if he's ready, he'll be on the ALCS roster. Or maybe the WS roster if he isn't ready in time for the ALCS.

After being absent and delighting us with his absence, he shows up in his usual form.....to try to start some shit with me. He is an asshole and I won't be any nicer to him than I was the crybaby who doubles as an asshole. You know.......the dumbass who shows up, makes smart ass remarks and runs off crying when he's told off.
