Tough business. I don't know what they expected Ausmus to do with no pitching, but I'm sure there's more to the story.

Maddon brings them their first WS in 108 years and that's how they repay him? They should build a shrine of him and stick it on Waveland Ave.

People see guys like Scioscia, Girardi, and Hinch win championships and assume that most ex-catchers will automatically be great managers.

I think Ausmus got hosed, personally. I don't know if he is a great manager or not, but nobody was going to do well with that shitstorm. No pitching, injuries to all of the top players, no depth, and then a death on the team.
Ausmus may not be great, but I don't see anybody else doing better in that situation.
Maddon either, really.
edit: The Angels only had one pitcher throw more than 100 innings.....102 for Cahill. Nobody wins with that.

I agree. He was treated like an interim.

Hurdle I can see. It's one thing for the team to suck but they were hampered by constant fighting and bickering in the clubhouse. It may not be all his fault, but he lost control of the team.

Pirates are a once proud franchise that has a managment and owenership who have a mixed view of what it takes to be competitive. Maddon taking that job just means he just wants a 1 or 2 year paycheck.

Supposedly the Angels are interested.

I'm not sure who the Cubs think they can get that will be better. Maddon can be a little vocally opinionated with the media is the only thing I can think of that might annoy ownership.

Epstein has only himself to blame for their fall, all the bone head FA signings and trades over the last few years.

Maddon is from Hazelton, Pennsyaslvania. I wonder if he has any interest in the Pirates managerial vacancy. The rumor I heard was with Banny being in their (the Pirates) front office he might be the leading candidate for the job. All points look to Maddon going to LA, but that team and franchise are a train wreck. He would either thrive in San Diego and Philly and to a lesser extent Met Ville. He has a home in LA and his background to the Angels say otherwise. With his mother getting up their in years it would be great to see him in Philly being close to home.

The glow of 2016 is now flickered out. The flubs have returned to a cesspoolish franchise on the decline. Everyone knew these idiots couldn't handle success.

How do the prospects look for a return trip for the talent in your area.
